The essential oils from different parts (roots, leaves, stem, buds and flowers) of Hogweed(Heracleum steveniiManden.) cultivated in St. Petersburg region, were collected by water distillation. They were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Eighteen components were identified in the oils with octyl acetate (28–73%) being the major constituent. In addition to the oils obtained from the roots, stems and leaves are also rich in octyl octanoate (10–19%). The oil of each plant part had individual quantitative and qualitative composition.

The hydrodistilled oilof Lepechinia floribunda(Benth.) Epl., was studied by means of GC and GC/MS. Thirty-seven components were characterized. Major constituents of the oil were borneol (21.44%), β-caryophyllene (15.14%), aromadendrene (5.50%) and ledyl acetate (16.86%).

The volatile constituents of the seed and fruit skin oils ofCatimbium latilabre(Ridl.) Holtt. from Vietnam were analyzed by a combination of high resolution GC and GC/MS. More than 55 components were found to be present in the seed oil, of which the major ones were β-caryophyllene (25.8%), camphor (11.2%), caryophyllene oxide (5.7%), carotol (5.6%), δ-elemene (5.0%), benzyl acetone (4.8%) and α-phellandrene (4.4%). About 25 compounds were found in the fruit skin oil, the main components being β-pinene (26.1%), 1,8-cineole (19.6%) and α-pinene (11.1%).

Water-distilled essential oils ofLagoecia cuminoidescollected from three different regions of Turkey were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Thymol (72.83–94.76%) was found to be the major component in the oils.

The volatile components from the fruit ofTamarindus indicaL. were obtained by supercritical fluid extraction and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. A total of 16 compounds were identified accounting for 97.75%. Aromadendrene was the major constituent corresponding to 90% of the flavor constituents.
