摘要:
Extraction of essential oil fromTeucrium poliumL. using supercritical CO2at 100 bar and 40°C was performed. The supercritical extraction process was carried out by a pilot plant scale apparatus. Applying GC/MS analysis, the results were compared with those obtained for the oil isolated by conventional hydrodistillation. In both cases, the major components identified were sesquiterpenes. Germacrene D (23.6% and 13.2%) and β-caryophyllene (16.5% and 18.0%) were the main components in the extract and oil, respectively.

摘要:
Sixteen samples ofOcimum canumoil were isolated from fresh and dried plant material by steam distillation. Fifty-three components were identified. Two new chemotypes were found; one rich in α-terpineol (48-64%), the other in methyl chavicol-α-terpineol (44-52% and 20-27%). Hitherto, α-terpineol had only been reported in trace amounts inO. canumoil.

摘要:
The essential oils obtained from leaves and thin branches ofPothomorphe umbellata(L.) Miq. andPothomorphepeltata(L.) Miq. were investigated by GC/MS. The principal constituents identified in the oil ofP. umbellatawere β-caryophyllene (14.8%), germacrene D (27.4%), bicyclogermacrene (11.5%) and δ-cadinene (13.3%), comprising to 67% of the oil. The major components identified in the oil ofP. peltatawere β-caryophyllene (39.0%), α-humulene (6.4%), germacrene D (8.7%), (E)-nerolidol (11.7%) and caryophyllene oxide (7.2%), corresponding to 73% of the oil. Except for octadecanol found in the oil ofP. peltata, all other (39) compounds identified in both species were sesquiterpenes.

摘要:
The composition of the volatile fraction and of the non-volatile residue of the Maltese sweet orange oil (laboratory-prepared) was studied by GC, GC/MS and HPLC. Sixty-two components were identified in the volatile fraction. The main component was limonene (92,6%); moreover, a high content of carbonyl compounds was also found. Six polymethoxylated flavones were identified in the non-volatile residue: 5,6,7,8,4′-pentamethoxyflavone (tangeretin), 3,5,6,7,8,3′,4′-heptamethoxy- flavone, 5,6,7,8,3′4′-hexamethoxyflavone (nobiletin), 5,6,7,4′-tetramethoxyflavone (tetra-O-methylscutellarein), 3,5,6,7,3′,4′-hexamethoxyflavone and 5,6,7,3′4′-pen-tamethoxyflavone (sinensetin). The Maltese oil composition was compared to that of different cultivars of sweet orange previously analyzed.

摘要:
Whole plants and detached leaves ofCymbopogon martiniicultivars were exposed to water stress for growth and essential oil metabolism studies. The cultivars differed considerably in their response to stress. Plant growth, oil yield, relative water content and water potential decreased while PEP carboxylase activity (PEPC; EC 4.1.1.31) increased in cultivars ‘Tripta,’ Trishna' and ‘PRC1’ grown for 120 days under stress. Similarly in excised leaves of cultivars RRL(B)-77, RRL(B)-69, IW-31245E and RRL(B)-77E water potential and relative water content decreased while proline level increased due to water stress. PEP carboxylase activity was enhanced in all the cultivars except in RRL(B)-69. On inducing water stress in plants or in detached leaves, level of essential oil and geraniol decreased, increased or showed no change in the different genotypes.

摘要:
The hydrolytic conditions of thioglucosides (TGD), which are the precursors of the essential oil ofBrassica juncea(L.) Coss., and the effects of time, temperature, pH and ascorbic acid added on the hydrolysis of TGD were determinated. The optimum hydrolytic conditions for the essential oil production from TGD inB. junceaare time, 120 min; temperature, 70°C; pH, 4.5; and ascorbic acid, 0.02 mg/g. The oil was analyzed by GG/MS. Fourteen components were identified, representing 85.9% of the oil. The main components found in the oil were allyl isothiocyanate (43.8%), 3-methylthiopropyl isothiocyanate (9.4%), 3-butenyl isothiocyanate (4.8%), butyl isothiocyanate (4.7%), phenyl isothiocyanate (3.7%) and 2-phenylethyl isothiocyanate (3.7%).
