摘要:
The volatile constituents ofMatricaria matricarioides(Less.) Port, growing in Estonia were isolated by simultaneous distillation-extraction and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-six constituents were identified. The major compounds were myrcene, limonene, en-yne-dicycloethers, geranyl isovalerate and (E)-β-farnesene. The results obtained showed quite large quantitative differences between the fresh and dried plants oils particularly in the amounts of myrcene and (E)-β-farnesene.

摘要:
Polyploidization is a widespread method used in peppermint breeding to increase the chromosome numbers and to restore the fertility as a prerequisite for combination breeding and the induction of new genetic diversity. The use of these methods in breeding new varieties often results in progenies with increased chromosome numbers and characters divergent in comparison with the parents. Ten peppermint cultivars were classified into two groups according to their chromosome numbers: Group 1 with normal chromosome numbers 2 n = 66–72, Group 2 with increased chromosome numbers 2 n = 90–96. Cultivars with the higher chromosome numbers showed a more vigorous growth, the generative development was accelerated, the essential oil content and its content of menthone, isomenthone and limonene were increased and the content of menthol, menthofuran, 1,8-cineole and viridiflorol was lowered.

摘要:
The essential oils from the epigeous (above ground) and hypogeous (below ground) parts ofMeum athamanticumJacq., which were obtained by hydro-distillation, were subjected to analysis by GC and GC/MS. The major components were found to be (E)-β-ocimene (34.9%), p-cymene (12.1%), (Z)-β-ocimene (10.2%) and δ-3-carene (6.2%) in the epigeous part oil and (Z)-ligustilide (36.2%), (E)-β-ocimene (14.4%) and (Z)-3-butylidene phthalide (6.3%) from the hypogeous part oil.

The leaf and stem steam-distilled oil ofAeollanthus pubescensBenth. cultivated in Lome (Togo) was isolated and analyzed for percentage composition using both GC and GC/MS. Oils from fresh or dry herb contained thymol (46–50%) and γ-terpinene (12–13%) as the main components.

摘要:
The agronomic performance and chemical composition ofTagetes minutaL. was evaluated in a new agro-climatic region of semiarid tropical India.T minutaperformed well under these conditions and responded to application of 50 kg N/ha. Analysis of the leaf and flower oils by GC revealed that the leaf oil contained dihydrotagetone (6l.0%) and (Z)-tagetone (16.1%), while the flower oil was rich in (Z)-β-ocimene (47.9%) and (Z)-tagetenone (19–6%).

The essential oil ofHeterotheca latifoliaBuckley (Compositae) was screened for its antimicrobial activity againstStaphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtillis, Candida albicansandAspergillus niger. Solid phase tests were carried out using petri dishes and applying the agar dilution method for bacteria and the agar diffusion method with paper disks for fungi.H. latifoliaoil was found to possess antimicrobial activity againstBacillus subtillisandEscherichia coli.
