摘要:
The variation in essential oil yield and composition fromOlearia phlogopappa(Labill.) D.C. was examined. Three clones from Paradise Plains (PP), Elephant Pass (EP) and Buckland (BU) were studied over six months, and the Mount Wellington (MW) clone over 18 months. MW clones showed that juvenile leaves consistently contain more oil than mature leaves, peaking in the summer months. EP, PP and BU also reflect this trend. In all clones, leaves of increasing physiological age declined in essential oil content during summer and autumn. In the BU clone, leaves of both increasing physiological and chronological age peaked in oil yield in March. In PP, leaves of increasing chronological age gave a constant yield up to April, peaking in May. The yield from EP leaves rose to 2% in January, decreasing to 0.6% in May. The percentage composition of the major components of each oil varied from clone to clone over the summer period.

摘要:
Influence of different hydrodistillation conditions were evaluated from the standpoint of oil yield and composition of essential oils from the seeds of three varieties ofFoeniculum vulgareMill. Three hydrodistillation methods and three degrees of seed grinding were considered. Chemical composition of essential oils was determined by GC and GC/MS. The main constituents of the oils were: trans-anethole (81.8–91.1%), limonene (1.0–6.7%), fenchone (1.3–10.2%) and methyl chavicol (1.5–3.9%). Both the method of distillation and the degree of seed grinding showed significant effects on the yield and quantitative composition of essential oils.

摘要:
The quantitative chemical composition ofCoridothymus capitatusReichb. f. and ofSatureja thymhraL. from different sampling areas of Greece was analyzed satistically. An analysis of variance was performed to investigate the possibility of differences in constituent concentrations in oils obtained from plants of different origins. Also cluster analysis was performed and correlation and multiple correlation coefficients were obtained to investigate groupings or relationships among the oil constituents. The results showed many significant correlations between different constituents of both plant species. In the same plants a multiple correlation between terpenes, alcohols and single components was found.Satureja thymbrasamples could be separated in groups in relation to their sampling area. β-Caryophyllene showed significant differences between the sampling area for both plant species.

摘要:
The volatile part ofAgastache rugosa, (Labiatae) contains more than 90% of methyl chavicol. The fresh, herbaceous, spicy odor of the ground leaves was therefore caused by methyl chavicol in combination with some minor constituents such as anisaldehyde and p-methoxy cinnamaldehyde.

摘要:
A rapid method to detect the addition of reconstituted mandarin oils to natural mandarin essential oils is suggested. The method is based on the ratio of the two enantiomers of limonene determined by GC using an on-line coupling of non-chiral and chiral capillary columns. The ratio of (−)-limonene and (+)-limonene in the genuine mandarin oils was 2.2 to 97.8, while in reconstituted oils the same ratio was 13.4 to 86.6. Addition of reconstituted oils increases the ratio of (--) to (+)-limonene in genuine oils enabling the detection of additions of even 5% of reconstituted oils to genuine mandarin oils.

摘要:
This paper concerns a preparative method of β-lactam formation using N-[(3R)-3, 7-dimethyl-6-octen-1-ylidene]-N-cyclohexylamine [I] derived from 1-citronellal. The reaction of [I] with ethyl bromoacetate in the presence of zinc gave a β-lactam 4-[(2R)-2, 6-dimethyl-5-hepten-1-yl]-(1-cyclohexyl)azetidin-2-one [II]. Instead of β-lactam for-mation, N-[(3R)-3, 7-dimethyl-1, 6-octadien-1-yl]-N-cyclohexyl-2-methylpropionamide[III] was obtained from the reaction of [I] with isobutyryl chloride and triethylamine.

摘要:
The essential oil from the leaves ofPiper betleL. Sagar Bangla cultivar has been found in vitro to be highly active against the growth of four keratinophilic fungi,Arthroderma benhamiae, Microsporum gypseum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Ctenomyces serratusand five pathogenic Aspergilli. Bacterial organismsBacillus subtilis, B. pumilus, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhiandVibrio choleraewere also found to be susceptible to the oil. The essential oil was also found to be more effective against tapeworms(Taenia solium)and hookworms(Bunostomum trigonocephalum), than the synthetic anthelmintics piperazine phosphate and hexyl resorcinol. The results presented lend some credibility to some of the reported applications ofPiper betlein the Indian system of medicine.

摘要:
The essential oils fromSalvia willeanaHolmboe, an endemic of Cyprus, S.fruticosaMill, also from Cyprus andS. pomiferaL. from Greece (Labiatae) were analyzed by means of GC and GC/MS. The oils were obtained by steam distillation of fresh and dried leaves, flowers and stems of plants collected from different localities. Fresh leaves gave the highest oil yield. The yields varied from 1.3% inS. pomifera, 2.8% inS. willeanaand 5.3% inS. fruticosa.A total of 42 components were identified and qualitative and quantitative differences between the oils were observed. The major components found in the oil of S.fruticosaandS. willeanawere 1, 8-cineole (4.0–67.5%, 4.7–16.7%) and camphor (5.7–44.5%, 27.7–47.7%) respectively. In contrast, the major constituents of the oil of S.pomiferawere 1, 8-cineole (2.3–9.5%), α-thujone (5.0–14.6%) and β-thujone (26.3–44.1%). The differences between the oils from the three species in relation to the date and localities of collection, as well as whether the plant material was fresh or dried are discussed.

摘要:
The essential oil of“Mentha mirennae”Bruno was analyzed by a combination of GC, GC/MS and13C-NMR. It was found to contain more than 50 components of which about 40 (96%) were identified. The major compounds were linalool (70%), linalyl acetate (9.8%) and limonene (1.5%). From a comparison with the main constituents found in differentMenthaoils, we presume that“M. mirennae”must be the hybridM. citrataEhrl. However, according to botanical and chemical data the possibility that“M. mirennae”is, in fact,M. spicataL. cannot be excluded.
