摘要:
The volatile fractions ofChamaecyparis lawsonianaandC. pisifera, although qualitatively analogous and fairly rich in lLnon jne, were differentiated from each other by the absence of δ-3-carene and bornyl acetate in the former, and a moderate δ-3-carene and bornyl acetate content in the latter. Both contained appreciable amounts of the acetate of the relatively rare sesquiterpenoid oplopanone, and the diterpene hybaene, both of which were identified by1H-,13C-NMR and mass spectrometry. No character impact compound could be identified in the oils.

摘要:
The essential oils of two wild growing plants used as herbal tea and mintlike spice in Turkey,Calamintha nepeta(L.) Savi subsp.glandulosa(Req.) P. W. Ball andZiziphora clinopodioidesLam. were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-three components were identified in both oils with pulegone (42.0%) and piperitenone (40.4%) being the major components in theCalaminthaoil, and pulegone (60.2%), menthone (13.6%) and menthol (10.9%) being the major components in theZiziphoraoil were the main components.

摘要:
Rosemary oil was produced from plants grown in two different zones of Argentina (Sumalao and Castelar). The highest yield of fresh plant material and oil was found in Sumalao. The physico-chemical properties, chemical composition and odor quality of the Argentinian oils were very similar to commercial oil, in particular Portuguese oils. Twenty compounds were identified in the oils, of which the major ones were α-pinene (7.9–10.9%), myrcene (17.9–20.4%), 1,8-cineole (14.5–15.3%) camphor (9.0–9.3%) and β-caryophyllene (14.5–15.3%). Some differences were observed in chemical composition of two oils produced by different methods of distillation.

摘要:
The quantity of the essential oil accumulated in the aerial parts of peppermint attains a maximum level in the growing season and then diminishes rapidly. In order to identify the best possible harvest date, the optimum time for the greatest fresh weight yield, maximum oil yield and desired chemical composition must be identified. It is generally recognized that the period just preceding flowering is the preferred harvest time. In order to more precisely identify this time in the peppermint plant life cycle, the floral development and flowering process have been studied. During the period just before normal harvest time takes place, plants were examined for average height, number of leaf pairs, fresh herb weight and oil yield. Also shoot apices of the terminal buds were examined by electron microscropy to determine the first signs of flowering. From these observations, it was found that the optimal harvest time was when the calyces were only barely visible formations at the stem extremity.

摘要:
Six glycosidically bound C13norisoprenoids were found in fresh tomato fruit extract. They were isolated by Amberlite XAD-2 adsorption and methanol elution followed by enzyme hydrolysis using β-glucosidase. Their role as possible flavor precursors in tomato is discussed.

摘要:
A germplasm collection ofArtemisia annuaL. consisting of 13 accessions was field grown. The essential oil, which was obtained from dry leaves and flowers by hydrodistillation was analyzed by GC and GC/MS for essential oil composition. The oil content of leaves ranged from 0.84% to 1.51% (volume/dry weight) with individual plants as high as 2.35%. Thirty-two constituents were identified in the oil of the leaves and flowers, and the greatest concentration of oil was found in fully mature leaves (47% total oil/plant), the middle third portion of the foliage. The major components of the oil include: artemisia ketone (35.6%) and 1,8-cineole (28.1%) in the leaves of early summer harvested plants, artemisia ketone (26.8%) and camphor (20.5%) in leaves of fall harvested plants, and artemisia ketone (56%) and camphor (10.5%) in flowers of fall harvested plants. Certain accessions which were rich in specific constituents (as % of essential oil) were identified, e.g., artemisia ketone (68.5%), camphor (27.5%), 1,8-cineole (22.8%), α-pinene (16.0%) and camphene hydrate (12%). Plants within accessions also varied in essential oil composition.

摘要:
GC/MS studies of the essential oil ofEucalyptus brassianahave revealed the presence of over 50 compounds in amounts greater than 0.01%. The principal constituent was 1,8-cineole (53–65%), while other major compounds were a-pinene (7.2–12.2%), and (in oil from one seed source) citronellal (9.5%).
