摘要:
Abstract. This paper is the sixth in a series designed to cover taxonomically all species groups ofAgra, whose cumulative ranges extend from southernmost Texas to northernmost Argentina. Thefeisthameli, mixta, virgataandohausigroups constitute theFeisthameliSection of the genus. Thefeisthameligroup consists of seventeen species which have a composite range extending from Guatemala to Bolivia and southeastern Brazil.Among this group, nine new species are described from the following type localities:chapada(BRAZIL, Chapada de GuimaráTes),phite(BOLIVIA, Provencia de Gutierrez),para(BRAZIL, Pará),rubra(BRAZIL, Para, SáTo Félix do Xingu),dation(BRAZIL, Minas Gerais, Teófilo Otoni),tuitis(PERU, San Martin, Tarapoto),memnon(BRAZIL, Espírito Santo, SáTo Mateus),lata(BOLIVIA, Santa Cruz),magdalena(COLOMBIA, Santander). A dot map illustrates the range of each taxon.Distribution and relationships are discussed in general, but detailed cladistic analysis is deferred until taxonomy of other sections is completed. Species distributions correspond in part to pleistocene refuges suggested by other authors based on other classes of organisms; however, more species occur outside such centres than i

摘要:
Abstract.Four new species are described and descriptions of many others revised, and 128 species and two subspecies are now known from the Region. Keys to females ofGrassomyiaand theSergentomyia babuseries are provided, and theS.arborisseries is defined and shown to be an exceptional long‐labrum group. Particulars of 1511 specimens from Indonesia are reported. The vector of kala‐azar around Calcutta is shown to be one of four variants ofPhlebotomus argentipesand to have, on average, a slightly longer labrum than the others, more suitable for mammal feeding. The labral length ofP.argentipesis, surprisingly, somewhat intermediate between those of most reptile and mammal feeders. Study of both Oriental and other sandflies strongly suggests that in Old and New Worlds the labrum has lengthened in relation to mammal feeding. In the Old World this has been accompanied by advance of the labral main adoral sensilla to produce a morphological, and probably functional, difference between the main Lm/zmam'a‐vector groups of the two hemisp

摘要:
Abstract.A new aphid species of the genusColopha(Pemphigidae: Eriosomatinae),Colopha hispanicais described from Spain. The apterae differ from those of other species ofColophain the shortness of their antennae and legs, in the greater number of their wax glands and in the underdevelopment of the setal socket on the forelegs. These aphids live inside the stems ofScirpus holoschoenus(Cyperaceae); this is the first record of a truly endophytic aphid. The adults are immobile. C.hispanicais compared with the other known species ofColopha, withKaltenbachiella pallida, a similar species also found in Spain and withGharesia polunini, a primitive species of Eriosomatinae. The distribution and host plants ofColophaspecies are reviewed and discussed.

摘要:
Abstract. The morphology of the head sclerites of final instar larvae of aphid parasitoids prepared from cast larval skins and excised heads of whole larvae are compared, using both optical and scanning electron microscopy. Remarkable differences in the apparent shape of head sclerites, particularly mandibles, were found. Some of these differences are probably due to a consistent dorso‐ventral flattening of the head during moulting, observed in cast skin preparations, whereas excised heads tend to flatten antero‐posteriorly. The importance of these findings for understanding the three‐dimensional shape of final instar mandibles and for the study of larval morphology and taxonomy of Hymenoptera is dis

摘要:
Abstract. An unusual species of spoon‐wing lacewing,Palmipenna aeoleopterasp.n., is described from Namaqualand, South Africa. This small species is similar to its three congeners in general body morphology and genitalic features. Its hindwings, however, differ dramatically from known insect hindwing form. These conspicuously pigmented wings with their relatively huge surface area are hypothesized to have dual aerodynamic and semaphore functions when used by males in gliding flight during mate attractio

Abstract. The New Zealand fauna of the sphecid wasp genusSpilomenais reviewed and keys to both sexes given. One previously described species,S.elegantula, is recorded and two more species,S.nozelaandS.emarginataare described as new; all are recorded from New Zealand for the first time in this paper. The biology and distribution of the species is discussed.

摘要:
Abstract.Morphological variation among freshly caught specimens resemblingFolsomia quadrioculataTullberg was examined using principal components analysis and canonical variates analysis. Two distinct groups were identified corresponding withF. quadrioculataandF.manolacheiBagnall. Previous workers have questioned the specific status ofF.manolacheiand regarded these two species as inseparable using morphometric characters. A study of specimens previously identified asF. quadrioculatasuggested that many were mis‐identified and thatF.manolacheiis more abundant in the British Isles than is usually thought. Variation in some characters traditionally used to identifyFolsomiaspecies was examined and a method for distinguishing adult and juvenileF.quadrioculatafromF.manolacheiis provided. The synonomy ofF.nanaGisin withF.manolacheiis supported. The separation ofF.diplothalmaAxelson fromF. quadrioculatais discussed, concluding that no characters are known which can reliably separate British specimens of these specie
