ABSTRACT.The Afrotropical lacewing subgenusCeratochrysaTjeder is raised to full generic status on the basis of several unique characters which make it one of the most distinctive genera in the tribe Chrysopini. Its distribution is extended to include Madagascar and Mauritius, and the genus seems most closely related to the Oriental and PacificChrysopa oceanica‐group.Only four of the thirteen nominal species are recognized as valid, and eight new synonyms are established. ABSTRACT.The previously monotypic Papuan genusHeterochoristaDiakonoff, 1952 is revised and twenty‐one species are recognized.NikolaiaDiakonoff, 1953 is synonymized, syn.n. withHeterochorista.The following six species are placed in new combination inHeterochorista: Nikolaia melanopsygmaDiakonoff,N.inumbrataDiakonoff,N.apertaDiakonoff,Isochorista papuanaDiakonoff,I.polyspermaDiakonoff andDicellitis chrysonethaDiakonoff. Thirteen new species are added toHeterochorista: acomatasp.n.,rostratasp.n.,trivialissp.n.,ornatasp.n.,priscasp.n.,punctulatasp.n.,rufulimaculatasp.n.,classeyianasp.n.,spinosasp.n.,signatasp.n.,fulgenssp.n.,nitidasp.n. andaurasp.n. A checklist and a key to species are provided, and adults and male and female genitalia are described and illustrated. The phylogeny ofHeterochoristais outlined on the basis of a cladistic character analysis and the genus is referred to the base of the Sparganothini. ABSTRACT.The relationships between the four tribes in the bee family Apidae are re‐examined. Characteristics of the postgena, presternum, antenna cleaner, arolium, female hind tibia and male genitalia, among others, support the placement of these tribes in three subfamilies: Meliponinae (Meliponini), Apinae (Apini) and Bombinae (Euglossini + Bombini). ABSTRACT.The classification ofCupesFabricius (s.lat.) is discussed. Details of previously proposed species groupings are expanded and supported by characters of the male genitalia. In addition toCupes(s.s.) five new genera(Tenomerga, Distocupes, Adinolepis, AscioplagaandRhipsideigma)are established and the total number of species is raised to twenty‐four of which seven are new:Tenotnerga trabecula, T.kapnodes, T.favella, Adinolepis scalena, Ascioplaga mimeta, A.sciasmaandRhipsideigma adjuncta.The known distribution is extended and now includes the NE of North America, E and S Africa including Madagascar, E Asia, E Australia, Borneo, New Guinea, New Caledonia and the Hawaiian Islands. Abstract.Stentorceps tubicen, a new genus and species of Eucoilidae from East Africa, is described and illustrated. The genus is characterized by the possession of large protrusions on the face, features previously unknown in the family. The genus is compared with other eucoilids and its systematic position is discussed.
