摘要:
Abstract.A new chalcidoid family, Rotoitidae fam.n., is described from New Zealand. The probable systematic affinities of Rotoitidae are discussed and the type genus and a single included species,Rotoita basalisgen. et sp.n., are described and illustrated.

摘要:
Abstract. The phylogenetic relationships of the genera, subgenera and species‐groups of the Vespinae are analysed using cladistic techniques. The results are used as the basis for a natural classification of these wasps. The cladogram for the four genera recognized is:Vespa+(Provespa + (Dolichovespula + Vespula)).No subgenera are recognized; all those previously described are synonymized with the appropriate genus. The synonymies ofNyctovespawithVespaandRugovespulawithVespulaare ne

摘要:
Abstract.A key is given to distinguish the European species of both apterous and alate viviparous females of the genusOvatomyzus. The synonymy, host plant range and geographical distribution of each species are summarized.Phorodon calaminthaeMacchiati is regarded as a synonym ofP.chamaedrysPasserini. As far as is known, all the species are permanently parthenogenetic.

摘要:
Abstract. The solitary egg parasiteTelenomus alsophilaewas reared from the eggs of six lepidopteran hosts of two families. One‐way analyses of variance showed statistically significant differences among host classes for means of (a) lengths and widths of all female antennomeres; and (b) in twelve of twenty‐three means of log‐transformed ratios constructed from pairs of antennomere dimensions. Principal component analyses of dispersion matrices of both untransformed and log‐transformed antennomere dimensions were conducted to examine patterns of variation among variables. In both analyses PCI was a general component and interpreted as a measure of overall size. One‐way analyses of variance of projection scores of OTUs on each of the first five principal components showed significant differences among host classes for means of scores on (a) PCI (both analyses) and (b) PC4 for untransformed data and PC3 for log‐transformed data. Differences among hosts classes for scores on the latter two components are interpreted to indicate that antennal variation results from factors in addition to simple size differences among host eggs and the allometric growth of body parts of parasites reare

摘要:
Abstract.Remarkable morphological variation in the male and female genitalia of the plusiine noctuid mothCornutiplusia circumflexaL. is described. The geographical distribution of this variation is discussed and it is concluded that, given the gaps in the known distribution of the species, it would be unwise to recognize the five forms as formal subspecies.

Abstract. The heliothine genusHeliocheilusGrote is recalled from synonymy withHeliothisOchsenheimer on the basis of a forewing modification in the male.RaghuvaMoore andCanthylidiaButler are synonymized withHeliocheilus.Six species ofHeliocheilusare recognized to occur in Africa, the adults of five are redescribed and the sixth described as new. Figures of the adults and genitalia of all species are provided. Lectotypes ofRaghuva multiradiataHampson,Raghuva thomalaeGaede,Raghuva albipunctellade Joannis andHeliocheilus mekranaBrandt are designated, and twelve specific synonymies are proposed.

摘要:
Abstract.Arudisspecies‐group is defined withinPolleniaRobineau‐Desvoidy, and new characters found useful in the taxonomy of this genus are presented.P.rudis(Fabricius),P.angustigenaWainwright, stat.rev. andP.pseudorudisRognes are redescribed.P.hungaricasp.n.,P.longithecasp.n. andP.luteovillosasp.n. are described as new to science. A key is provided, and the terminalia of both sexes are illustrated for all the species. Some features of the puparia are figured for the species where these are known. A neotype is designated forMusca rudis, and a lectotype forP.angustigena. P.angustigena, P.pseudorudisandP.rudisare Holarctic species, and the latter two have also been found in New Zealand. The remaining species are confined to the western Palaearctic.P.hungaricais known from central Europe, including southern parts of Scandinavia,P.longithecafrom the eastern Mediterranean, andP.luteovillosafrom Algeria and Morocco in North Africa. In the larval stagesP. rudis groupmembers are parasites of or predators on earthworms. The species have several generations each year, and normally overwinter as adults.Eisenia rosea(Savigny) serves as a host forP.hungarica, P.pseudorudisandP.rudisaccording to the reared material available. A previous detailed account of the immature stages and life‐cycle oflsquo;rudis’from North America is tentatively assigned topseudorudis.Keilin's (1909,1915) often cited accounts of the immature stages and life‐cycle of a species called‘rudis’are rejected as a source of information for any member of

摘要:
Abstract. An illustrated key is presented to the three genera of the ichneumonine subtribe Callajoppina that are known to occur in Central America. A new species,Tricyphus respinozai, is described from north‐western Costa Rica and brief notes are given about its biology as a larval/pupal parasitoid ofManduca dilucidaHiibner (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae). The cephalic capsules of the final instar larva and a preultimate instar larva ofT.respinozaiare describe
