摘要:
Abstract. The thirty‐one species of the tribe Pronophilini found by the authors in the little‐known mountain range on the northern borders of Colombia and Venezuela, the Serrania de Valledupar, are listed. Their recorded altitude limits are given, as well as notes on their habits and behaviour. The existence, among twenty of the species, of series of two or three closely related congeners replacing one another up the altitude gradient, is commented upon. Two cases of mimicry between species from different genera are reported. One new genus, fourteen new species and one new subspecies are described. Two new synonymies are established, the status of one taxon revised, and new status given to anot

摘要:
Abstract.Type specimens have been examined of eleven Australian species of the tetramerous Aphelinidae described by Girault in the generaApteroptrbc, Metacasca, Neocasca, OaandPteroptrixella. ApteroptrixandOaare synonym‐ized withArchenomus. O. biguttatais considered anomen dubium. M. copemiciis transferred toNeocasca. Dahmsiellagenji. is proposed forN. shillingsworthi. Pteroptrixellais suspected of being a senior synonym ofMetacasca, but the former genus is represented by an incomplete specimen. A key is given to the tetramerous genera of the Aphelinida

摘要:
Abstract. Results are given of experimental crosses ofSchistocercaspecies from the New World and the Old World Desert Locust. It is concluded thatS. cancellata(Serville),S. gregaria(Forskal) andS. americana(Drury) are separate species in their own right not subspecies ofamericana. The African Desert Locust should thus becalled S. gregaria gregariaand its S. W. African raceS. gregaria flaviventris(Burmeister). The nameS. vicaria(Walker) is proposed for the Central American Locust. The relationship ofS. paranensistoSxancellatais discussed.

摘要:
Abstract.Details of wax and wax‐producing structures belonging to twenty species of coccinellid larvae, including members of the Scymnini, Ortaliini, Hyperaspini, Coccidulini, Noviini, Cryptognathini, Azyini and Telsimiini are described and/or illustrated with photographs taken by means of the scanning electron microscope. Published records of wax‐production by larvae of Telsimiini and Chilocorini are examined and evaluated. The means by which wax precursors reach the outer surface of the epicuticle is discussed. Some of the physical properties of coccinellid and other waxes, such as their adhesiveness and UV reflectance, are recorded and the ecological significance of these factors is discussed. The contribution made by the present study to current opinion concerning the classification and possible phylogeny of the Coccinellidae is discussed and asses

Abstract.Neptis melicertulais regarded as the West African subspecies ofN. trigonophoraButler, a species previously known only from East, Central and South Africa.N. mixophyesHolland andN. nicobuleHolland are redescribed,N. nicodiceGrünberg is placed as a synonym ofN. mixophyes, and Eltringham's (1922) key to theNeptisspecies of the Ethiopian Region is modified to include these species. A list is given of twenty‐one species known to occur, or likely to occur, in Ghana. Following a principal co‐ordinate analysis, there is a discussion of the taxonomic importance of white marks in the forewing ceE and of interior structures on the male va
