摘要:

Public health nursing is following a course of action prescribed by society, changes in offerings in colleges and universities, and the needs of nursing service. If the test for minimal competencies does not prove to be a viable alternative, the identification of specific courses and content needed may be a method of resolving the issue. It is hoped that nursing educators and professional organizations will continue to promote the baccalaureate degree as the professional level of practice, and continue to develop innovative programs to allow for easy access for associate and diploma nurses to meet the demand for education.

摘要:

Nurses in a large metropolitan home health agency reported problems with Foley catheter leakage. A university faculty member and two nurses employed by the agency did a descriptive research study to determine the incidence of leakage from indwelling urinary catheters in the home setting and established a causal relationship which could provide the basis for future studies. The results indicated a 65% incidence of catheter leakage and a relationship between catheter leakage and bowel problems, as well as catheter leakage and urinary tract infections.

摘要:

The industrial worker spends a significant amount of time on the job. Therefore, the work place provides an opportunity for the assessment of health needs and the provision of health promotion services. This descriptive survey involved the exploration of the health needs of the employees of small companies with 100 or less employees in a major metropolitan area. As a result of this survey, the authors developed a consulting service to meet employee health needs which were identified.
