摘要:
A growing concern of health professionals is the prevalence of depression in elderly people, the most rapidly growing population group. Depression is a treatable condition with a favorable prognosis. Therefore, nurses need to become increasingly aware of the need to assess elderly people for depression since they are the ideal health professional to make the assessment because of their holistic approach to patients and opportunities to act as patient care coordinators. Explanations of the multiple etiologies and types of depression aid in differentiating depression from other conditions. Lately, the existence of barriers to making assessments of depression are explored.

摘要:
This paper presents an analysis of one nurse's experience, in providing holistic care to a terminally ill patient. The increased risk for intense feelings of loss in such relationships is explored and a method of terminating with the terminal patient is proposed. The method described embodies the concepts of holism and functions to facilitate reinvestment with other terminal patients.

摘要:
Medical social work, as a discipline, is still finding its feet in home health care and establishing its standing in the home health care team approach. As an attempt to achieve that, several home health care social workers in a consultation group produced a model for patient care planning outlining possible problems, interventions, and goals to be adapted to the individual patient. It is hoped that this model can be refined as medical social workers test it in practice and modify it as necessary. It is believed that this treatment tool adheres to the regulations of most third party payors.
