摘要:
Effecting change is an integral part of the nurse executive's role. Reasons for resistance to change are examined and stages in acceptance of change are given. Some of the nurse executive's resources for implementing change are identified and discussed. Factors of attitudinal and behavioral change are considered. This article is a chapter in the author's new book, “The Nurse as Executive,” to be published soon by Contemporary Publishing, Inc., Wakefield, Massachusetts.

If you haven't read Alvin Toffler's Future Shock, Dr. Odiorne's fascinating analysis of Futurist movements will make you feel that you have. Odiorne's keen perceptiveness enables him to bring the subject of future change down to earth. He skillfully brings the past, the present and the future into perspective–in terms the layman can understand, avoiding the excesses which are characteristic of the missionary's extremism. The article is reprinted from Personnel journal, April 1974.From time to time papers are submitted to us which are difficult for us to turn away although they do not meet the editorial objectives prescribed for IONA articles. The historical development of nurses' right to strike is traced. It is shown that nurses first exhausted all other alternatives before making the decision to strike. Compulsory arbitration is set forth as the most acceptable solution to nurses' striking.
