摘要:
From time to time, we wish there were an objective person with whom we could discuss work-related issues and possible solutions. In our quarterly Executive Coaching department, a troublesome work-related issue is presented and an executive coach provides an objective analysis and professional advice. Examples of situations might be a boss who reneges on a past commitment, decisions about your department are frequently made without your input, and a boss who starts micromanagement in the middle of your project. Readers are welcome to submit situations, which should be 250 words or less, describing the situation, your behaviors, and feelings. For selected situations, one hour of free telephone coaching will be offered. In print, respondent anonymity will be maintained and situations will be modified as needed to prevent institutional identification. Situations can be e-mailed to DrSuzSmith@aol.com or mailed to the editorial office address found on the masthead.

摘要:
The use of rehabilitative care has increased greatly. This study evaluates whether managed care affects health outcomes among Medicare orthopedic patients receiving rehabilitative treatments. Managed care versus fee-for-service patients had better outcomes at four months following discharge from skilled nursing facilities. It is important to address predictive factors, such as age, length of hospital stay, debilitation and social living arrangements, which can also influence health outcomes when planning rehabilitative treatment for older patients.

摘要:
This study identified how 16 Australian registered nurses classified sex-based harassers and explained their own behavior and the behavior of the harasser. A qualitative research design, relying on in-depth interviews, was used to collect the data. The study found that harassment is linked to gender roles and that the harassed are reluctant to blame the harasser—the harassed had “sound” rationalizations for harassment. Awareness of the interactional dynamics of self-blame and these rationalizations will help nurse executives ensure a harassment-free workplace.
