摘要:
Two commercially available clear lacquers, an organic-based nitrocellulose type and a water-based acrylic system, were applied to plywood, veneered particleboard, and hardboard, and then tested to Australian Standard 1530, Part 3—1976. The acrylic lacquer caused a slight increase in some Early Fire Hazard Indices. The nitrocellulose lacquer seriously affected ignitability of all three substrates and may seriously affect the rate of flame spread. Coating with the nitrocellulose lacquer was considered to constitute a potentially greater fire hazard than coating with the acrylic lacquer.

摘要:
The magnitude of the housing shortage faced by less developed countries is reviewed, and it is suggested that earth construction constitutes a viable solution to this problem. Compared to cement-based construction, soil construction poses fewer technical limitations and economical problems. The paper discusses the technical problems associated with the two most common soil construction techniques, adobe and rammed earth, and describes recent work by the authors.

摘要:
Waterproofing failures in the bathrooms of residential dwellings are widespread, particularly in shower compartments, and building regulations do not address the problem of waterproofing adequately. They are mainly caused by omission of perimeter angle flashing and by inadquate construction of the hobs in shower compartments. A general trend is emerging to use prefabricated and in-situ tray systems under the flooring of shower compartments in all types of construction.
