摘要:
Previous research on human functioning in the thermal environment is reviewed, and it is shown that a change or variation in intensity is a relevant aspect of the thermal environment, and that one way in which this change influences human functioning is through the level of arousal of the individual. Experiments were therefore carried out on the physical conditions in several offices, all airconditioned to maintain temperature, relative humidity and air movement at the prescribed standards. The relationship of the thermal environment to the level of arousal and to physiological strain are discussed.

摘要:
This new method to determine the optimum overall heat transfer coefficients for the opaque components of the building envelope in respect to orientation, window characteristics and transparency ratio, is based on the comfort values of the inner surface temperatures of the facade elements. The inner surface temperatures of the transparent components are calculated initially assuming window characteristics and climatic conditions. The inner surface temperatures for the opaque parts can be calculated from the inner surface temperatures of the transparent components, transparency ratios and the comfort value of the inner surface temperatures of the facade elements. The optimum values of the heat transfer coefficients f or the opaque components are determined from these and the sol-air temperatures.

摘要:
The Romans developed the hypocaust in the first century BC as a suspended floor supported on columns, which was heated by hot flue gases produced by a furnace at one end and exhausted by a chimney at the other. Later the flues were channelled under the floor and eventually passed through flues in the walls to heat also the vertical surfaces. The development of the Korean on-dol and the Chinese kang was very similar, and both, unlike the hypocaust, are still used today.
