Abstract—‐A method of increasing the effectiveness of fluoride dentifrices in the prevention of dental caries was investigated. A 0.5‐1.0 milliampere electrical current at 1.5 volt electrical potential was applied to the dentifrice as it was placed in contact with the teeth of the test animals. A 0.4 per cent stannous fluoride‐calcium pyrophosphate dentifrice and a 0.76 per cent sodium monofluorophosphate‐insoluble sodium metaphosphate dentifrice were used in the study. Abstract—Dental practitioners examined, in the home, after a previous interview by dental students, 1,354 subjocts randomly selected from the Sydney Metropolitan Area.
