AbstractA method of designing a series‐fed microstrip traveling‐wave array to produce a shaped pattern is described. A theoretical analysis of the traveling‐wave element is given and experimental results are presented. High efficiency and good directivity have been observed on the array. © 1994 John Wiley&Son

AbstractPlane‐wave propagation in an anisotropic chiral medium with isotropic permittivity and permeability and symmetric chirality dyadic is considered. The eigenvalue equation is formed and the wave numbers and the corresponding eigenpolarizations are given. 摘要:
AbstractIn this article, the frequency‐domain impedance boundary condition used for a thin layer coating over perfect conductors is transformed to a time‐domain impedance boundary condition (TDIBC) for the case of ablique incident perpendicular‐polarization plane wave, resulting in a partial differential equation in space and time. Discretization of the TDIBC to effeciently handle the thin layer coating is presented in the context of the time‐domain finite‐difference (TDFD) technique. The TDFD solutions using our TDIBC are in good agreement with the analytical results. © 1994 John Wiley

AbstractThe stability of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers with distant external optical feedback is analyzed numerically by using the rate equation model. Results for the different cavity designs are compared. The effects of the nonlinear gain coefficient on RIN and spectral linewidth is investigated. AbstractNumerical modeling has an important role to play in optical, microwave, and EMC design. An objective assessment of the accuracy of such numerical modeling tools using experimental data is often hampered by the general complexity of the data to be compared. It is therefore difficult to quantify the resulting comparisons. This communication suggests that three parameters derived from correlation functions can prove useful in assessing validation comparisons. © 1994 John Wiley&Sons, Inc

AbstractWe report on the resonance problem of a superstrate‐loaded annular‐ring microstrip structure on a spherical body. This study is performed by using a Green's‐function formulation in the spectral domain and a moment‐method calculation. Numerical results of the resonant frequency and quality factor of the structure are presented. Both cases of the structure, used as a radiator at TM12mode and as a resonator at TM11mode, are studied. A great superstrate loading effect is observed for the structure excited at the TM12mode as a radiator. Details of the results are presented. © 1994 John Wiley&S

AbstractWideband decoupled planar dipoles are suggested for a subsurface transmitting and receiving antenna. Design parameters of the conductor‐backed cut‐off dielectric waveguide containing two planar dipoles above a lossy half space are suggested, and a bandwidth of more than 5 to 1, decoupling of ‐90 dB for about one wavelength separation are obtained. © 1994 John Wiley&Son

AbstractA theoretical analysis on the radiation pattern and the radiation resistance of an annular ring microstrip antenna mounted on a spherical body using an electric surface current model is presented. The effects of the dielectric layer and the metallic sphere are rigorously taken into account by the Green's functions in the spectral domain.
