AbstractA simplified theory for describing the maximum available output power versus oscillation frequency and calculated dc series resistance of resonant tunneling devices is presented. The method uses an approximation of the measured dc current versus voltage characteristic. Results can easily be used for comparisons of measured and calculated maximum output power for a particular device at different oscillation frequencies. © 1993 John Wiley&Sons, Inc

摘要:
AbstractA hemispherical dielectric resonator antenna axisymmetrically fed by a coaxial probe is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The input impedance of the lowest‐order TM mode (the TM101mode) is evaluated by using the variational formula and the result agrees well with measured data. The effects of the probe length and dielectric constant on the input impedance are studied. Finally, the theoretical radiation pattern is compared with that of a bare mono‐pole of a quarter‐wavelength in height. © 1993 John Wiley&Son

AbstractAn array of optical fibers can be applied to smart‐skin sensing applications, which include stress monitoring, fatigue detection, temperature sensing, etc. Although a single light source can be used in a fiber array sensor, the input light power is divided by a sensing fiber array and each fiber may require a detector. Thus as the channel number of a fiber array increases, the number of detectors also increases and the signal intensity of each fiber channel decreases, which decreases the signal‐to‐noise ratio and increases the complexity and the cost of the system. In this article we will analyze the Hadamard transform to enhance the signal processing of the fiber array sensor. The apparent advantages are that only one detector is needed and the signal‐to‐noise ratio of the fiber array sensor can be improved by a factor of N/2, where N is the number of sensing fibers. Analysis for an array of 127 sensing fibers is illustrated, in which we have shown that the calculated results are in agreement with the analytical model. © 1993 John Wiley

AbstractIn this article we present the nonlinear simulations of a matrix amplifier and compare its power‐handling capabilities to those of a two‐stage distributed amplifier. The simulations confirm our hypothesis of better performances of the matrix over the usual distributed topology both in higher output power level and lesser harmonic distortion. The somewhat larger number of active devices, as compared with other topologies, makes the matrix topology particularly well suited for monolithic implementation. © 1993 John Wiley&Sons,

摘要:
AbstractA low‐cost high‐gain front‐end amplifier has been developed at 2.5‐GHz frequency for use in RDSS (radio determination satellite services) mobile terminals. The RDSS system allows an accurate positioning with the possibility of serving a large user population using the spread‐spectrum modulation. Such an amplifier, built on 0.8‐mm PTFE board, provides a low noise figure, a 31‐dB gain and good input and output matching on the 16‐MHz bandwidth allocation. All the results have been obtained using low‐cost commercially available devices. © 1993 Jo

The algorithm has been used to study the dependences of the cross talk and propagation delays on the various crossing interconnection parameters. AbstractA longitudinal radiating slot cut in a broad wall of a dielectric filled rectangular waveguide is analyzed rigorously. Pertinent coupled integral equations for the aperture electric field of a thick wall slot are solved by the method of moments. Numerical results are presented for the slot characteristics over a range of permittivity values of the dielectric. Shunt admittance representation is found to be poor for higher values of the dielectric permittivity. © 1993 John Wiley&Sons, Inc
