摘要:
AbstractA theoretical and experimental study of a new type of monolithic planar transmission line is presented. This line can operate without the need for via holes or the use of air bridges for ground equalization. Furthermore, it has shown the tendency to radiate less than the conventional coplanar waveguide (CPW) and can provide a wide range of impedances due to the many available parameters for design. The space‐domain integral equation method is used to analyze several discontinuities of the proposed line. In order to validate the theory, measurements are performed on scaled models of a specific discontinuity. The experimental and theoretical results are in good agreement. In addition, it is demonstrated that the proposed line discontinuities radiate considerably less than the corresponding coplanar waveguide ones. © 1993 John Wiley&sons, I

AbstractTwo single‐layer FSSs are presented as radiation filters in conjunction with a conventional horn antenna. The amplitude of the transmitted wave to the variation of the incidence angle is studied with a view to designing a spatial filter array. It is demonstrated that these single‐layer arrays act as spatial filters, following a simple design of a regular plurality of slotted elements. © 1993 John Wiley&sons,

摘要:
AbstractA new analytic characteristic equation is presented and applied to the analysis of attenuation properties of normal modes in coated circular waveguides including conductor loss. Approximate and numerical methods are employed to accomplish the solution to the new equation, resulting in some useful approximate formulas for calculations of modal attenuations. These formulas are applicable to the analysis and design of the coated circular waveguide including conductor loss because of their good agreement with the numerical results obtained by the computer. © 1993 John Wiley&sons, Inc

AbstractA coplanar waveguide antenna (CWA) is proposed and investigated experimentally. The CWA consists of an open coplanar waveguide circuit and is fed by a coplanar waveguide with a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω. The measured return loss shows that the radiation mainly comes from the slot surrounding the open coplanar waveguide circuit. AbstractThe propagation phenomena of nonlinear guided waves along a nonlinear waveguide bounded by two identical self‐focusing media are studied numerically. Both TE0and TE1guided waves are investigated. AbstractThe Green's theorem approach is applied to analyze the transmission properties of a symmetrical right‐angled H‐plane rectangular metallic waveguide bend. The numerical results obtained have been corroborated by actual experiment and Marcuvitz data. It is found, however, that the method suffers from the limitation that the problem matrix condition number increases rapidly with the number of waveguide modes considered in the field matching. © 1993 John Wiley&sons,

AbstractObserved anomalous acousto‐optic frequency multiplication in amorphous materials is explained for the first time. Theoretical models reviewed include the nonresonant standing‐wave model, the first‐order modulation model, and the second‐order modulation model. It is found that only the nonresonant standing‐wave model provides an explanation for the observed phenomena, and not the Other models. © 1993 John Wiley
