摘要:
AbstractTwenty‐picosecond soliton pulses are experimentally generated by an electroabsorption modulator at a 10‐GHz repetition rale. By taking into account the unavoidable background light and the voltage‐dependent chirp parameter, a good agreement between theoretical and experimental results is found. It also appears that the usual time‐bandwidth product specifying such sources must be interpreted with care. © 1995 John Wiley&S

AbstractAn adaptive filter/photosensitive detector array system is analyzed for use in image acquisition. Different transmittance characteristic adaptive filter models are investigated and a possible application is suggested. The use of photochromes for passive adaptive filter implementation is postulated. AbstractThis article presents a comprehensive numerical study of resonant and nonresonant microstrip discontinuities that are printed on anisotropic substrates. The approach employs the method of moments (MoM), which is implemented for the gap, step, and stub discontinuities for the first time in MICs with other than biaxial anisotropic substrates. Numerical results include the variation of the normalized gap admittances with respect to different material parameters, insertion and transmission loss of step discontinuities, and shifts in resonant frequencies of tuning stubs due to rotation of the principal axes of the substrate. Computed data are validated for every structure against results in previously published literature. © 1995 John Wiley&Sons, Inc

AbstractWe analyze the intermodulation distcrtion (IMD) induced by four‐wave mixing in traveling‐wave semiconductor laser amplifiers (TWSLA) for different digital modulation schemes in a subcarrier multiplexing (SCM) system, and compare these results with the transmission of pure tones. We find that the IMDs are reduced in the digital modulation system, because the modulated signals disturb the homogeneous property of amplitude (ASK, FSK) or phase (PSK). We conclude that PSK has better performance, and the worst case is the transmission of pure tones. © 1995 John Wiley&Sons,

AbstractTwo types of coplanar transmission lines, rectangular microshield coplanar coupled lines (RMCCL) and coplanar coupled rectangular microshield lines (CCRML), are proposed for MMIC applications. These are developed from coplanar coupled lines (CCL) and coplanar coupled strip lines (CCS). Analytic formulas are presented for calculating the quasistatic TEM parameters of these coupled lines by means of exact conformal mapping techniques. Numerical results are also presented to illustrate the properties of these coplanar transmission lines. © 1995 John Wiley&Sons, Inc

AbstractA novel polarimetric referencing scheme is proposed in order to correct measurements in a D‐fiber methane gas sensor. The technique makes use of the polarization‐maintaining property of the D‐fiber. Theoretical analysis of the scheme is carried out using a semivectorial polarized finite‐difference method. Results show that the referencing technique can be applied to a wide range of both aqueous and gaseous species, as it does not depend on the absorption coefficient of the absorber, but only on the birefringence properties of the waveguide. © 1995 John Wiley&S

Parallel and series elements are separately determined in two different steps under the cold regime (Vds= 0 V). The effect of parasitic capacitances on Zijparameters is taken into account when extracting parasitic inductances. AbstractA simple method for calculating the resonant characteristics of unilateral fin‐line cavity is presented. The present method, called the space—spectral‐domain method, is found to be superior to several other methods in terms of computer memory and time, and can be easily implemented on any other arbitrarily shaped resonators. The results obtained are compared with the results available in the literature, and are found to be in good agreement. © 1995 John Wiley&Son
