摘要:
AbstractAn experiment regarding an inexpensive self‐coupled interferometric fiber optic gyroscope (self‐coupled I‐FOG) is conducted. The gyro output and rotation‐rate resolution of a self‐coupled I‐FOG are investigated and compared with those of a conventional I‐FOG having two couplers. The error effect of rotation output in a self‐coupled I‐FOG due to the interaction of the gyro output and the laser source is examined. Our results show that the resolution of rotation rate of an economical self‐coupled I‐FOG is one order of magnitude lower than that of a conventional I‐FOG. © 1

摘要:
AbstractA time‐frequency super‐resolution procedure is presented for processing wideband backscattered data containing dispersive surface‐wave effects. This approach is based on repeatedly applying the ESPRIT method to a sliding window of frequency data. The raw poles returned by ESPRIT produce a more sharply resolved time‐frequency display than that of the short‐time Fourier transform. One inherent limitation of ESPRIT is that it finds a multitude of poles for a single dispersive scattering mechanism. This limitation is overcome by properly combining the raw poles corresponding to each dispersive mechanism. This pole‐combining approach recovers the true frequency behavior of each dispersive mechanism and allows a complete parameter estimation of the data to be performed. © 1995 John Wil

AbstractThe basic topology is a series of transverse dipoles coupled electromagnetically to a microstrip line. After modeling each element with a numerical technique (MoM), this array is modeled with an equivalent circuit in CAD software. This method is shown to be reliable and can interface easily with commercially available software, which allows global simulation and optimizes the design. This versatility is demonstrated with a realization example: A six‐dipole active array at 10 GHz showing a 27.5‐dBi gain. © 1995 John Wiley&Sons,

AbstractHigher‐order infinite elements, which are compatible with ordinary finite elements, and which preserve the sparsity of the FEM equations, are derived for the quasi‐TEM analysis of open‐type microwave transmission lines. The shape of the outer boundary can be an arbitrary polygon and can be chosen to conform to the geometry of the transmission line etches. It is shown that the use of the infinite elements with higher‐order approximation of the radiation condition enhances the efficiency of the method as compared to the conventional FEM, by virtue of the reduction in the requirements for the memory and computation time. © 1995 John Wiley&S

AbstractThe aperture admittance is formulated for a slice dielectric‐filled (ϵr≥ 1) rectangular waveguide antenna. By considering the specific media discontinuity at the aperture, the formulation is able to predict aperture admittance of the waveguide with various dimension ratios and dielectrics. The summarized results are new in the sense that they have rarely been found in the literature. Calculations and supporting measurements show that the filled dielectric has an important influence, in addition to waveguide height, on the aperture admittance. The proposed approach permits a good simulation of aperture characteristics and impedance matching. © 1995 John Wiley&Sons

AbstractA rigorous full‐wave analysis of microstrip gap discontinuities on cylindrical surfaces is presented. Numerical results for the frequency‐dependent reflection and transmission coefficients and the gap capacitance and conductance are calculated using a moment‐method calculation, in which a combination of entire‐domain sinusoidal and piecewise sinusoidal basis functions is used to represent the currents on the microstrip line. The characteristics of cylindrical microstrip gap discontinuities for various curvatures and gap spacings are analyzed. © 1995 John Wiley&S

AbstractThe sensitivity of heterojunction‐bipolar‐transistor‐ (HBT‐) based OEIC receivers with metal‐semiconductor metal photodetectors (MSM‐PD) or p‐i‐n photodetectors (p‐i‐n‐PD) are compared. With an accurate small‐signal circuit model of an InP/InGaAs HBT, it is shown that sensitivity of the p‐i‐n‐HBT receiver is higher than that of the MSM‐HBT receiver even though the high‐frequency equivalent input noise current density is higher for the former than the latter. However, the HBT receiver using MSM‐PD with light transparent conducting fingers would offer a potential sensitivity improvement of 0.5 dB over the p‐i‐n‐HBT receiver at 10 Gbit/s due to an increased responsivity o
