LetRbe a commutative ring with identity of prime characteristicpand letGbe an abelian group. Denote byS(RG) the Sylowp-subgroup of the group of normalized units (i.e. the units of augmentation 1) of the group ringRG. The following result is established in the paper.1) LetSbe a subring ofRcontaining the identity ofR. Then the additive factor-groupR(p)/S(p)is isomorphic to the multiplicative groupR[p]/S[p], whereR(p)= {x∈R∣xp= 0} andR[p]= {y∈R∣yp= 1}.2) It holdsR(p)/Rp(p) ≌R[p]/Rp[p] whereRp= {xp∣x∈R}.Computing of the Ulm-Kaplansky invariants of the groupS(RG) is the main result of the paper. A description of the maximal divisible subgroup ofS(RG) is given as well

摘要:
We classify all 3-transposition groups which are generated by at most five of their 3-transpositions. Modulo a center these are 27 specific groups plus various quotients of a particular group of order 2(349). For each of the 27 groups at least one presentation is given. We also give presentations for many groups of importance in the recent classification of 3-transposition groups with trivial center. Our presentations include ones for the three sporadic 3-transposition groups of Fischer, each on a 3-transposition generating set of minimal size.

Let K be a field, n ≥ 2 an integer, and Rn= K[Xn, Xn+1,…,X2n−1]. In this paper, we study lengths of factorizations in Rn. For any atomic domain D, define ρ(D) = sup{ r/s ∣ X1…xr= y1…ys, xi, yj∈ D irreducible } and φ(r) = ∣{ m ∣ X1…xr= y1…ym, xi, yj∈ D irreducible }∣. We show that ρ(Rn)| =(nD(Gn(K)) + 3n − 2)/(2n), where D(Gn(K)) is the Davenport constant of an abelian group Gn(K) associated with K. Hence ρ(Rn) is finite if and only if K is finite. If K is finite, we also show that for Rn,.
