Let F be a free Lie algebra of rank> 1 and S be an ideal of F. Denote by Fmand Fnl,…,nkthe terms of the lower central and the polycentral series of F. The aim of this paper is to provide a sufficient condition for the quotient algebra Fnl,…,nk/Snl,…,nkto be infinitely generated. The case Fm/Smwas studied in [6] for free groups and in [ 2 ] for free Lie algebras. In this paper the following main theorem is proved : If F = F2 = S, k > 1 and ni> 1 for i=l,…, k, then Fnl…,nk/Snlis infinitely generated.

If M and Γ are abelian groups, then M will be a Γ-ring iff there exists a group homomorphism f from Γ into the group of all multiplications of M, Mult(M), such that f(Γ) satisfies the Generalized Associativity Property on M. In this note we examine the following special cases of this result: (i) M is a Γ-ring satisfying the Nobusawa Condition, (ii) M is a cyclic group, (iii) M is a direct sum of cyclic groups and (iv) M is a Γ-ring that has unity elements.

Let Z be a nonsingular plane curve of even degree and U =P2— Z. Let : X —>P2be tbe double cover ramified over Z and V =—1(U). It is shown that the kernel of the restriction map on Brauer groups": B(U) —> B(V), is isomorphic to Z/2(2) where ρ— 2 < r <ρ— 1, p being the Picard number of X and if": Pic P2—> Pic X is an isomorphism, exactly half of the algebra classes of order 2 in B(X) are restrictions of algebra classes of order 2 in B(U) whose ramification has been split by V. The kernel of the corestriction map 2 B(V) —2B(U) is shown to be the subgroup consisting of elements fixed by the Galois group.
