We study polynomial growth of algebraic series. It is proved that if anN-algebraic seriesrwith arbitrarily many commuting variables has polynomial growth, thenris in factN-rational. Also, polynomial growth is decidable. Similar results are proved forN-algebraic series with noncommuting variables having bounded supports. It is also shown that polynomial growth is not decidable forN-algebraic series having noncommuting variables without the additional condition on the supports.

摘要:

The purpose of this paper is twofold. First of all we characterize Bernstein algebras having a nilpotent kernel using idempotents of their multiplication algebras. Secondly, we describe some properties of Bernstein algebras which are preserved by isomorphisms of their multiplication algebras.

LetKbe a non-dyadic local field andAits ring of integers. First we notice that the classification of unimodularA-bilinear forms and of systems of two unimodular symmetricA-bilinear forms are both reduced to the classification of hermitian forms over the category of double isomorphisms over projectiveA-modules ; the duality is nevertheless different for each case. Then we use the methods of reduction and transfer to construct some examples of non isometric unimodular forms (or system of unimodular symmetric forms) having the same asymmetry and becoming isometric overK.

We construct all the alternative (but not associative) algebras of dimension at most 5 over a perfect field. For any primep, we show that there are fifteen alternative rings of prime power orderpn,n≤5, which are not associative. None of these rings is nil. Just one has a unity.

We analyse the structure of the multiplier ringM(R) of a(nonuni-tal)Von Neumann regular ringR. We show thatM(R) is not regular in general, but every principal right ideal is generated by two idempotents. This, together with Riesz Decomposition on idempotents ofM(R), furnishes a description of the monoidV(M(R)) of Murray-Von Neumann equivalence classes of idempotents which is used to effectively examine the lattice of ideals ofM(R). The techniques developed here allow other applications to the category of projective modules over regular rings.
