In this paper, we introduce the class of generalized stable rings and investigate equivalent characterizations of such rings. We show that EndRRis a generalized stable ring if and only if any rightH-module decompositionsM=A1+B1=A2+B2withA1≅A≅A2implies that there existC,D,E≤Msuch thatM=C+DB1=c+E+B2with.C≅A. Also we show that every generalized stable ring is a GE-ring and matrices over generalized stable regular ring can be diagonalized by some weakly invertible matrices.

We present an algorithm to computeH2(G,U) for a finite groupGand finite abelian groupU(trivialG-module). The algorithm returns a generating set for the second cohomology group in terms of representative 2-cocycles, which are given explicitly. This information may be used to find presentations for corresponding central extensions ofUbyG. An application of the algorithm to the construction of relative (4t, 2,4t, 2t) -difference sets is given.

For instance we show that every ideal ofRwhich is comaximal withBis invertible. We also show that ifRis right Noetherian thenRhas right Krull dimension 1 and every right ideal ofRwhich is comaximal withBis projective, andRhas the right Artin-Rees property if and only if the maximal ideals ofRwhich containBcommute with each other.

We study the structure of the function fieldKof the quintic Fermat curveF(5) in the following way: LetKmbe ag-maximal rational subfield ofK. Then the field extensionK/Kmis obtained by the projection fromF(5) to a line with a centerp, ∈F(5). By using this fact, we consider the field extensionK/Kmfrom several point of view.
