Using aK-theoretic approach, we give a detailled construction of a five term exact sequence in symmetric closed categories which generalizes the exact sequences of Picard-Brauer groups in [2], [16], [19], [20] and [22]. As a consequence, it follows that the results of [2] and [20] are true, each one in its own context, under less restrictive conditions

Résumé. SiDest un anneau intègre, on considère Ies sous-extensions deD-algèbres de type fini, notamment les anneaux compris entreDet l’anneau de polynomesD[n] ennindéterminées. Au préalable on montre qu’une extension de type finiR⊆T, oùTest noethèiien, vérifie l’inégalité de la dimension. Puis on é;tudie les radicaux dimensionnels et valuatifs d’un anneau (respectivement intersection des idéaux maximaux de plus grande hauteur et des idéaux maximaux de plus grande hauteur valuative). On montre ensuite que, siDest un anneau de Jaffard, tous les anneaux compris entreDetD[n] sont de Jaffard. II en est de mème des sous-extensions deD-algèbres de type fini lorsqu’en outre le radical dimensionnel deDest nul. On conclut avec les sous-extensions d’un corpsk. Letbe a partition of the positive integer α. The block diagonal subgroupof the general linear groupGlα(K) (Kis a field of characteristic 0) acts on then-tuples of α × α matrices overKby simultaneous conjugation. We give the first and second fundamental theorems for the polynomial invariants of this action. We translate the second fundamental theorem into the language of block trace identities, and show that all of them are consequences of the fundamental trace identities. The results give generators and relations for the polynomial invariants of representations of quivers

Sacerdote [Sa] has shown that the non-Abelian free groups satisfy precisely the same universal-existential sentences Th(F2)⋂∀∃ in a first-order language Lo appropriate for group theory. It is shown that in every model of Th(F2)⋂∀∃ the maximal Abelian subgroups are elementarily equivalent to locally cyclic groups (necessarily nontrivial and torsion free). Two classes of groups are interpolated between the non-Abelian locally free groups and Remeslennikov’s ∃-free groups. These classes are the almost locally free groups and the quasi-locally free groups. In particular, the almost locally free groups are the models of Th(F2)⋂∀∃ while the quasi-locally free groups are the ∃-free groups with maximal Abelian subgroups elementarily equivalent to locally cyclic groups (necessarily nontrivial and torsion free). Two principal open questions at opposite ends of a spectrum are: (1.) Is every finitely generated almost locally free group free? (2.) Is every quasi-locally free group almost locally free? Examples abound of finitely generated quasi-locally free groups containing nontrivial torsion in their Abelianizations. The question of whether or not almost locally free groups have torsion free Abelianization is related to a bound in a free group on the number of factors needed to express certain elements of the derived group as a product of commutators

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between the associated primes of non-zero factors of a uniform injective module over a Noetherian ring and the right clique of the assassinator, when the clique satisfies the second layer condition. We introduce the terminology “representationally replete” to refer to primes where every linked prime occurs as such an associated prime and we study this property in several classes of rings including enveloping algebras of solvable Lie algebras and finite dimensional algebras
