Szigeti, Tuza and Révész have developed a method in [6] to obtain polynomial identities for the n×n matrix ring over a commutative ring starting from directed Eulerian graphs. These polynomials are called Euler-ian. In the first part of this paper we show some polynomials that are in the T-ideal generated by a certain set of Eulerian polynomials, hence we get some identities of the n×n matrices. This result is a generalization of a theorem of Chang [l]. We give a modern version of the following result of Halphen: “degrees and classes of successive evolutes of a plane algebraic curve form two arithmetic progressions of the same ratio after a sufficient number of iterations”. The iteration of this transform provides adesingularisationprocess (branch by branch) of plane curves, different to the Nash transform and the Noether process. To prove these two points,we introduce systematically Puiseux's exponents, semi-groups of exponents and use elimination and duality formulae.

In this paper we study the rings defined by ideals of pfaffians of a skew symmetric matrix of indeterminates. We analyze the case in which the pfaffians are not necessarily of fixed size. We prove that such rings are Cohen-Macaulay normal domains and we compute the divisor class group and the canonical class. It allows us to determine which of our rings are Gorenstein.

Let (R,m) be a local ring andIan ideal ofR. In this work we find conditions onIthat allow us to describe simple relations among depthR(It), depth grI(R), depth S(I) and depth S(I/I2). These relations are useful also from a practical point, of view since it is usually difficult to evaluate depth grI(R) and depth S(I/I2) even with the help of a computer.
