摘要:
AbstractThe reduction of dichromate ion by hypoposphorous acid in sulfuric acid solution has been found to be of the second order with respect to HCrO4−and of the first order with respect to the total concentration of H3PO2.The existence of the active form of hypophosphorous acid and the intermediate state of HCr2O6−ion was presumed. From the mesurable rate of reaction, the reaction mechanism was proposed as follows:where HCr2O6−was rapidly reduced to Cr[III].The average value ofk1k3/k2was estimated as 466 at

摘要:
AbstractThe electrical migration of tetra‐valent metal ions, Ge[IV], Ti[IV], Zr[IV], Th[IV]and U[IV] was observed by means of paper electrophoresis, using tartaric acid and tartrate or acetic acid and acetate buffers as background electrolytic solutions. These metals formed with the tartrate negatively charged complex ions which migrated toward the anode, but not with the acetate except the U[IV]ion, which was gradually oxidized to UO2+2ion and then formed complexes with the acetate. The ratio of ionic radii of tartrate complexes was approximately estimated from the ratio of their migration distances under the same condition

摘要:
AbstractThe electromigration behavior of60Co,90Sr,90Y,134Cs,144Ce and152Eu (+154Eu) as a function ofpH in 1% citric acid solution has been studied. The cesium ion which migrated toward cathode decreased its mobility linearly as thepH increased. The strontium ion had the electromigration behavior similar to cesium ion up to pH 5 and changed the direction of migration to the anode atpH 4.5; the cobalt and rare earth ions, having the similar behavior, changed their ionic charges atpH's 2.2 to 3.2, respectively. By taking adventage of such behavior, cesium could be separated from bi‐ and tervalent metal ions at any pH value, whereas yttrium could be separated from strontium ions, and rare earth from cobalt ions only at lowpH value

摘要:
AbstractA spectrophotometric study of complex formation between titanium (IV) and hinokitiol (β‐isoproyl tropolone) was made over apH range of 1.15 to 5.60 at 25°. In a 50% dioxane‐water medium, a soluble yellow complex was formed between Ti (IV) and hinokitiol, which had two absorption maxima at 383 mμ and 335mμ. The optimumpH was 3.50 to 3.70 and the mole ratio of Ti (IV) to hinokitiol was 1 to 3. Its stability constant was found to be 8.99×1028at ionic strength 0.01, and the chemical formula was presumed to be [TiOH(C10H11O2)3]0. By using the wave length of 383 mμ, determination of trace amount of titanium (IV) with the sensitivity of 0.036 r/cm2was

摘要:
AbstractGallein (pyrogallolphthalein) has been first introduced as a metal indicator in the complexometric titration with EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) and successfully applied to the titration of zirconium. A method for the direct titration of zirconium with Versene (the disodium salt of EDTA) was proposed. A soluble complex of 1:1 zirconium‐Versene was formed during titration. Gallein indicator changed its color from orange red to a clear golden yellow at the end point. Stoichiometric results were brought about within thepH range 0.5∼1.6. The sharpest color change was aroundpH 1.0. The titration was carried out in hydrochloric acid medium. The effect of the presence of various foriegn ions in approximately equimolar proportions on the titration was observed. Forty‐eight ions were tested. Among these only the following were found to interfere: antimony (III), cerium (IV), chromate, fluoride, iron (III), molybdenum (III), molybdate, oxalate, permanganate, phosphate, sulfate, tartrate, tin (II, IV), titanium (III) and van

摘要:
AbstractThe separation of90Y from90Sr was carried out by ethanol‐ and methanol‐water systems from NH4‐form Dowex 50‐X4 columns. Maximum fractions of radiocolloidal90Y was eluted by using 50% solvent solutions. Using 20, 50, and 80% aqueous ethanol as solvent, the eluted activities were 2, 18 and 13% respectively, and with 20, 50 and 80% aqueous methanol, the activities were 2, 7, and 4% respectively. Fractional conversion of ionic yttrium to radiocolloids was observed and the anormal adsorption of radiocolloids in the column was thought to be due to the growing agglomerates retained in the canals in the resi

摘要:
AbstractThe phenolic parts of the essential oil of Chamaecyparis taiwanensis were separated by powdered polyamide column chromatography. The fractions showed the presence of seven spots on polyamide impregnated paper chromatogram. Four of these spots were identified as carvacrol thymol, chamaecin andm‐isopropylphenol respectively. The main phenol wasm‐isopropylphenol which was campared directly with the synthetic sam

摘要:
AbstractThe measurements of the pH of a colloidal system—soil suspension—by glass and calomel electrode assembly using different types of salt bridges showed that the pH readings were not the same if the salt bridges were connected to the soil sediments, indicating the potentials developed at the liquid junction were not of the same magnitude. Therefore, this should not be neglected when the salt bridge is connected to a colloidal suspension. The side tube type salt bridge developed in this study has been found most satisfactory for connecting the electrode with the soil sediment, because it provides a larger sharp contact surface without possible contamination of the soil sediment by saturated KCl solution from the salt bri
