AbstractFour copper compounds, bis‐acetylacetone‐Cu(II) (A), bis‐dibenzoylmethane‐Cu(II) (B), acetylacetoneethylenediimine‐Cu(II) (C) and benzoylacetoneethylenediimimine‐Cu(II) (D) have been prepared and used as the targets in carrying out Szilard‐Chalmers process to investigate the feasibility for the enrichment of Cu‐64. Both solvent extraction method and re‐precipition method were used to separate the enriched Cu‐64. It was observed that no enrichment was brought about in the operations with compounds (A) and (B) under the condition studied. AbstractThe phosphorescence Spectra of pure oxine and bivalent oxinates, namely, magnesium, calcium, manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium and lead were studied at 77°K in rigid glass solution for the purpose of evaluating their phosphorescence efficiencies as related to the atomic number which permit qualitative deduction to be made in regard to the magnetic susceptibility and greater orbital interaction with atoms of higher atomic number (Z). Certain qualitative information on metal bonding, based on their comparative intensities of phosphorescence is presented.The solvent mixtures used for phosphorescence studies were EP (1:1), EPA (1:2:8) and EPAF (6:5:3:0.5). The absorption spectra of both the pure solvents and the mixtures mentioned above were studied at room temperature for the purpose of characterizing the type of transition. AbstractThe spectrophotometric study on the extraction behavior of V(III) thiocyanate complex, with methyl ethyl ketone is described.The greenish yellow color extract shows a absorbance maximum at 395 mμ in 1.0 to 2.8NHCl solution, and the molar absorbancy index of the extract is 4,313. Beer's Law is valid over a range from 0.01mgto 0.1mgof vanadium.The optimum concentration of SnCl2for the reduction of vanadate was found at the range between 0.2Nand 0.4N.The minimum variation of the volume of organic solvent layer and aqueous layer after equilibration was found when the solution was 1.8 to 2.4Nin HCl, 0.35 to 0.65Nin SnCl2and 0.9 to 1.2Min NH4CNS

AbstractIn continuation of a series of chelatometric titration of metal ion with gallein indicator, two procedures for the EDTA titration of cobalt and nickel using gallein as indicator were proposed. In one procedure cobalt ion was titrated with standard 0.05MEDTA solution in ammonium chloride buffer by stepwise addition of ammonia to keep thepH at the optimum value of 8. A sharp color change from violet to rose red indicating the end point can be observed. In another procedure nickel ion was titrated with standard 0.05MEDTA solution atpH 8 to 9 in ammonia‐ammonium chloride buffer solution.
