摘要:
A general purpose mathematical model for the prediction of the radiation temperature of man-made and natural surfaces is described. The model is one-dimensional and deals with the case where the temperature within the body is constant at a particular depth. A sensitivity analysis on the various input parameters has been performed. The model has been satisfactorily validated against the temperatures of a range of measured surfaces

摘要:
Near to the time of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait and continuing past the withdrawal of its forces, the northern Persian Gulf area was monitored continuously using the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) onboard the NOAA polar orbiting satellites. The AVHRR was shown to be effective for monitoring fires, oil slicks, airplane contrails, and outbreaks of wind-blown dust, during the course of the war. With their frequent multispectral coverage, the NOAA series satellites can be a valuable strategic tool during war, and may be used to evaluate resulting environmental conditions

Data from the Nimbus-7 Coastal Zone Colour Scanner (CZCS) were analyzed to determine the phytoplankton pigment patterns in the ocean surrounding the Canary Islands. Two different pattterns were observed in this region. One pattern was associated with the influence of the northwest African coastal upwelling system on the ocean surrounding the Canary Islands and the other was associated with individual islands, probably due to the disruptive effect of the Canary Islands on the flow of the Canary Current

摘要:
The reflectance of a canopy of mixed species may be affected, among other things, by the percentage cover of each species or by the proportion of each species in the total biomass. The likelihood of either property affecting reflectance is greatest when two species are differentiable spectrally and spatially as is the case for the species of grass and clover that are common in pasture in the U.K. This Letter examines the relations of the percentage cover of clover with reflectance and the proportion of clover in the total biomass with reflectance for a field of pasture in Belper in Derbyshire, U.K. using partial correlation analysis
