摘要:
AbstractSingle crystals of orthorhombic Zn3(PO4)3· 4 H2O of optical quality with dimensions up to 12 × 10 × 8 mm were grown from aqueous solutions of ZnSO4and NaH2PO4by controlled diffusion of NH3into the solution. The elastic constantscijand the thermoelastic constantsTij= dcij/dT,Ttemperature, were determined from ultrasonic resonance frequencies of thick plates in the range between 5 and 40 MHz and between 250 and 320 K. In respect to the longitudinal elastic stiffness hopeite behaves quasi isotropically, however, the elastic shear stiffness shows a large anisotropy of about a factor 2.5. Above 260 K the shear stiffnessc66possesses a quite anomalous temperature dependence (T66>0). Further, the linear thermal expansion reveals a strong anisotropy (α11= −3.3, α22= 3.4, α33= 33 ·

摘要:
AbstractBy reduction of silver halogenides with hydrogen according to Brenner's method, silver whiskers were grown. Their investigation by contemporary techniques suggests that the driving force for their growth is the strongly enhanced capillary pressure in the silver halogenide droplets at the tip of the whiskers, leading to accelerated decomposition of this salt.

AbstractPotassium lithium tantalate niobate (K1‐yLiyTa1‐xNbxO3, KLTN) crystals with tetragonal phase at room temperature were grown by the flux pulling method. Two‐wave coupling energy transfer has been realized in this crystal. The two‐wave coupling gain coefficient measured is 0.46 cm−1, and the sign of the dominant carrier is positive. AbstractSingle crystals of potassium pentaborate were grown by the solution growth method. The grown crystals were characterised by optical transmission spectrum, differential thermal analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. The coefficient of thermal expansion was also determined and the results discussed.

AbstractLead diiodide has been proposed as a solvent for liquid‐phase growth of PbTe layers on BaF2substrates. The contact with pre‐eutectic (PbI2‐PbTe) solutions has resulted in deposition of PbI2islands of spherical cupola shape. The relatively small contact angle (16–25) indicates heterogeneous nucleation.
