ABSTRACTIn this paper some of the controllable factors affecting angling catch at Grafham Water trout fishery are examined and an attempt made to relate them. There appears to be a close relationship between annual catch and annual stocking in the case of rainbow trout. The relation of the brown trout catch to other factors is rather different; the main reason is probably a higher frequency of survival into later seasons and slower growth. The effect of growth rates and other less quantifiable factors is discussed.
