摘要:
The taxonomy of the marmoset genus Callithrix is re-evaluated. The members of the C. jacchus group (C. aurita, C. flaviceps, C. geoffroyi, C. jacchus, C. penicillata) are considered good species. Although they produce hybrids and even double hybrids in captivity and are largely allopatric in nature, there is some range overlap between them and natural hybrids are unknown. C. aurita coelestis and C. penicillata jordani are considered valid subspecies. C. humeralifer (including C. h. humeralifer and C. h. chrysoleuca) is probably more clossly related to the C. jacchus group than to C. argentata (which includes C. a. argentata, C. a. leucippe and C. a. melanura).

摘要:
Heart rate is a convenient and sensitive indicator of emotional tension. It has been shown that in groups of macaques and baboons in which hierarchy has always existed the leader has the lowest heart rate. That fact reflects absence of emotional tension and is noticed when hierarchy is not violated. Heart rates of submissive monkeys are always somewhat higher than the usual basal rate, which indicates that a certain emotional tension exists in them. When monkeys are regrouped there appears a new leader instead of the expelled one. Now the new leader shows the lowest heart rate.

摘要:
It is suggested that the most complete ‘Kenyapithecus africanus’ mandible, KNM-RU 2087, represents a male pongid. As such, it should be considered a Dryopithecus africanus specimen, srather than a D. nyanzae specimen. Its placement in D. africanus, as a male of that species, explains all of its featu

摘要:
Analysis of maternal-fetal weight relationships in primates based on the regression equation F (fetal weight) = b · M (maternal weight)a indicates that prosimian and anthropoid primates are separated by an allometric shift which can be interpreted as a result of differences in placental structures. The regular occurrence of multiple births in both prosimians and anthropoids is limited to small-sized species only, and is considered to be the result of selective pressure against oversized dimensions of the fetus at term to guarantee successful delivery. Twinning in callithricids is demonstrated as having developed secondarily as a byproduct of evolutionary miniaturization, rather than as a retention of a primitive mammalian feature

摘要:
The morphology and histology of the olfactory organ will be studied in Tupaia glis. The tree shrew shows all features characteristic for macrosmatic mammals. In this respect it is different from microsmatic primates.

摘要:
Sensory nerve terminations in the oral tissues of Symphalangus syndactylus and Pongo pygmaeus have been described and compared with those of tree shrew, slow loris, macaque and gibbon. In Pongo pygmaeus the endings were moderately positive for specific cholinesterase, strongly positive for non-specific cholinesterase and negative for alkaline phosphatase.
