摘要:
Captive male-female pairs of Callicebus and Saimiri are observed for behavioral differences that might contribute to the contrasting forms of social organization these monkeys show in the natural habitat. Callicebus were closer spatially, they were ore often in contact, and they groomed each other more than aimiri. Tail-twining between cagemates occurred only in Callicebus. ocomotor activity was less in Callicebus and the activity levels of agemates were more highly correlated. The findings are congruent with the family-type form of social organization described for Callicebus and the multi-male pattern found for Saimiri in field studies.

摘要:
Adult male Chacma baboons (Papio ursinus) in one troop in Botswana regularly mobilized other troop members by chasing them and giving loud vocalizations. This behavior occurred in several contexts, including shallow water crossings, intertroop encounters, roost departures, and in gathering laggards. Troop-mobilizing actions were observed regularly in only one of five troops studied intensively in Botswana and South West Africa. Difficulties in making intertroop and interpopulation comparisons of behavior are discussed.

摘要:
Leadership changes accompanied by infanticide are described for two langur troops at Abu, Rajasthan. These events are compared with similar reports from Dharwar and Jodhpur. In each of seven cases, infanticide occurred when males entered the troop from outside it. Females whose infants were killed subsequently exhibited estrous behavior and copulated with the new leader. In three troops at Dharwar and Abu, seventy percent of females who lost infants gave birth within eight months. In these cases, infanticide appears on average to increase the reproductive success of the incoming male. Confronted with a male reproductive strategy disadvantageous for them, females respond to usurping males with various counter-strategies. From a comparison with other mammals, infant-killing by males may be advantageous (1) when there is intense competition for females; and (2) when frequent take-overs potentially curtail the tenure of an incoming leader.

摘要:
Among the isoantibodies produced in baboons, anti-Bp, anti-Cp and anti-Gp cross-react with red cells of geladas, while anti-Ap and the newly found anti-Np do not. Baboons cross-immunized with red cells of geladas produce antisera reactive not only with red cells of all geladas, but also isospecific for blood factors Bp and Gp of baboons. Blood group specificities detected by cross-immunesera may provide a new criterion for primate taxonomy.

摘要:
Data from the analysis of 352 blood samples from 77 cebus monkeys, ranging in age from birth through 1 year of age, and 54 samples from 29 adult animals were compiled to establish hematological norms. Measures included hematocrit, hemoglobin, erythrocyte and leukocyte counts, differential leukocyte count, total plasma protein, albumin, globulin, and cholesterol. Marked changes in hematocrit, red cell count, leukocyte distribution and plasma proteins during the first 2–3 weeks were followed by slow changes in red cell indices and concentrations of plasma components during the remainder of the first yea
