Abstract:Three children aged 4 months, 7 years, and 12 years, had bullous pemphigoid (BP). Two children suffered from disseminated BP and one (12 years) from vulvar localized BP. This last form has been described only once before in a girl. The various forms of pemphigoid in childhood are rare and reported in only about 40 instances. Bullous pemphigoid in childhood does not differ clearly from the adult counterpart, although lesions of the mucous membranes seem more common in childhood.

Abstract:Six boys with pemphigus vulgaris and one boy with pemphigus foliaceus are reported. The youngest patient had onset of the disease at the age of 7 years. Three patients with pemphigus vulgaris were treated with intravenous dexamethasone pulses, while the remaining four received oral corticosteroid therapy. The prognosis in all patients was excellent.

Abstract:A family in which two sisters are affected by pemphigus is described. Literature research has revealed the presence of 25 families, comprising 53 patients, in which pemphigus existed in more than one member. The relationships between those affected were mainly parent‐child or sibling‐sibling. Pemphigus was found to be associated with specific HLA antigens: A26, Bw38, DRw4. and additionally occurred with a higher frequency in certain ethnic groups. The variety of etiologic factors in the pathogenesis of pemphigus is discussed and the significance of a genetic role elucidated. Pemphigus is a chronic bullous disease with an autoimmune etiology. Abstract:Three patients, aged 31, 26, and 22 years, had pemphigus vulgaris. A delay in diagnosis and appropriate treatment occurred because the initial presentation was confined to the oral mucosa.
