摘要:
Standard patch testing of a patient with eczema revealed positive reactions to the aluminium discs used for testing. Patch tests with various aluminium allergens were positive in the patient and negative in 53 controls. The patient was having hyposensitization for hay‐fever with an aluminium precipitated allergen. Intradermal testing with aluminium was positive in the patient and negative in nine controls. The eczema disappeared when hypo‐sensitization was discontinued. The authors show the results obtained during the 5‐year period 1973–1977 in 4600 patch tested patients in the Allergy Department of Barcelona University. The results obtained with the most common allergens (nickel sulfate, potassium dichromate, para compounds, cobalt and rubber) are studied separately. The results of testing with the allergens with a low incidence of positives are also shown. 摘要:
Contact dermatitis is reported in three out of four machine tool setters working with a grinding oil containing Epoxide 7 and a polyamine antirust additive. Positive patch lest reactions to Epoxide 7 were obtained in two of three men and to the polyamine antirust additive in all three. Patch tests with the same dilutions of each additive in controls were negative. Epoxide 7 has since been replaced in the formulation by a technical alternative.

摘要:
In cases of conjunctivitis associated with the use of soft lenses, delayed hypersensitivity to disinfecting components of the used soft lens liquids has to be considered. In 7/15 patients, positive patch test reactions to merthiolate, chlorhexidine or the soaking solutions were observed. The significance of these findings is discussed.

Eight patients suffering from pigmented contact dermatitis caused by the commercial Brilliant Lake Red R were patch tested with purified Sudan I and its several chemical analogues. Positive reactions were observed to Sudan I, Orange SS, Brilliant Lake Red R, Vacanceine Red, Yellow OB and Sudan II. Negative patch tests were obtained with Toluidine Red, Permanent Orange, Lithol Red and Sudan III.We found that the commercial Brilliant Lake Red R which had been said to be the most important causative agent of pigmented contact dermatitis, contained Sudan I as a major impurity. The patients reacting to Brilliant Lake Red R always gave a positive reaction to Sudan I, hut these reacting to Sudan I did not always give a positive reaction to Brilliant Lake Red R.This suggests that Sudan I is a potent sensitizer and may induce contact sensitivity and that Brilliant Luke Red R itself is a weak sensitizer or a cross‐reacting substanc

The view generally held in the literature is that the frequent occurrence of concomitant nickel and cobalt sensitivity is due in simultaneous sensitization from ‐suspenders, jewelry, etc.In a study population consisting of 168 unselected female twins representing a random sample of the general population, only a few were found with concomitant nickel and cobalt sensitivity, and then mainly among those with hand dermatitis.Similar concomitant cobalt and nickel was found only in dermatological female patients with hand dermatitis. The conclusion is that concomitant nickel and cobalt sensitization from metal alloys worn in direct contact with the skin is rare and that cobalt sensitization is probably a phenomenon secondary to an already existing hand dermatiti

A comparison was made between the guinea pig maximization test (GPMT), open epicutaneous rest (OET) and chamber test (CT), and the allergens were neomycin sulphate and propylene glycol (PG). The sensitization rate for neomycin in petrolatum was 35 % in GPMT, 25 % in OET and 25 % in CT. The corresponding figures for neomycin in PG were 30 % in GPMT, 45 % in OET and 32 % in CT. PG caused no hypersensitivity in 118 guinea pigs. The results suggested that as a hygroscopic, irritant and penetrating vehicle, PG facilitates the induction of delayed contact allergy, especially in OET.
