The photomaximization procedure was designed to identify topical photocontact sensitizers following the format of the maximization test for contact sensitizers. The test agent is applied for 24 hours followed by exposure to three Minimal Erythema Doses (MED) of solar simulated radiation twice weekly for 3 weeks (six exposures) in a panel of 25 white Caucasoids.The subjects are challenged 2 weeks later with 4.0 J/cm2of long‐wave ultraviolet radiation (UV‐A).Photocontact sensitization was induced to 3,3′,4′,5‐tetrachlorosalicylanilide (TCSA); dibromosalicylanilide (DBS) but not to tribromosalicylanilide unless the latter was contaminated with DBS. A case of vitamin C allergy of the delayed type is reported. Eczematous skin lesions appeared during normal uptake of the vitamin C contained in food. After a vitamin C‐free diet, the skin lesions disappeared. 摘要:
Sixteen patients with chronic leg ulcers were treated with 10% benzoyl peroxide gel for 6 weeks. At the end of the treatment, patch tests with 2 % benzoyl peroxide in petrolatum and 10 % in a gel showed that nine patients (56 %.| had become sensitized. This high sensitization rate is in good accord with the results obtained by experimental investigations using human maximization tests and repeated insult patch tests. A strong sensitizer such as benzoyl peroxide should not be used in the routine treatment of chronic leg ulcers, despite its good healing effect.

Observations on nine patients with occupational dermatitis from methylisothiocyanate (MITC) lead to the following conclusions:1MITC causes primarily a toxic dermatitis, but as a strong sensitizer it induces sensitization as well.2Cross reactions between MITC and benzylisothiocyanate, the active agent of Sulbentin antimycotics. were not seen.3In one patient a MITC acid burn on one foot and leg caused systemic poisoning from absorption with reversible damage to the liver parenchyma.

A series of 250 consecutive patients with dermatitis and positive patch tests to chromate was divided into three groups: nonoccupational dermatitis (94), occupational dermatitis caused by chromate (132) and occupational dermatitis caused by allergens other than chromate (24). Only 17.2 % of patients did not report harmful effects from chromium‐tanned leather. Shoes were most often not tolerated. The role of matches in the development of chromate dermatitis is discussed. Observations on ash, household detergents, textiles, wood, tattooing, cement, galvanizing solutions, printer's ink, welding fumes, corrosion inhibitors and oils are described as causes of chromate dermatitis in Poland, as well as the localization of dermatitis and relevance of patch lest reaction

摘要:
A simple and reliable method to evaluate the density of particles in patch test suspensions is described. The number of particles per unit volume has been found to vary significantly within a wide range of values. These variations have no relation to the concentration or the molecular weight of the substance, as far as particles larger than 10 μ are concerned. Because the presence of particles is one of the factors which can influence percutaneous penetration and since physical manipulations are able to modify the size of these particles, it is suggested that the kinetics of penetration of haptens through the skin should be reevaluated with regard to this special point

Euphorbia helioscopiais a common herbaceous weed found in the British Isles and parts of Europe. It has been responsible for poisoning of livestock resulting in severe inflammation particularly of mucous membranes and the eyes. Four esters of 12‐deoxyphorbol were isolated from the fresh aerial parts of the plant and their irritant doses 50% (I.D.50) ascertained using female L.A.C.A. mice. 12‐Deoxyphorbol‐13‐phenylacetale‐20‐acetate was found to be the major component of the toxic fraction and occurred in yields of 0.0012 % w/w. This compound was also the most irritant substance isolated and exhibited an I.D.50of 0.038μg, and is accordingly considered to be responsible for the major part of the toxicity ofE. helioscopia.A high molecular weight aliphatic ester, 12‐deoxyphorbol‐13‐dodec‐dienoate‐20‐acetate, was also obtained in low yields. This compound exhibited an T.D‐no of 0.12μg. The final two esters obtained from the toxic fraction of the plant were the low molecular weight homologues, 12‐deoxyphorbol‐13‐[2‐methyl‐cis‐2‐butenoate].‐20‐acetate and 12‐deoxyphorbol‐13‐[2‐methyl‐cis‐2‐butenoate]. These compounds exhibited I.D.50 of 3.09 and 0.72 μg, respectively and
