摘要:
53 patients who produced 34 positive pinch test reactions (±15, + 10), ++ 4, + 4,+++5) had their reactions read by a high‐frequency pulsed ultrasonic (A‐scan) dermal depth detector with a resolution of 0.05 mm. The positive reactions were compared with both random and regional controls. The machine could not differentiate between + or ± reactions from the control readings. However, for 75% of ++ cases and 80% of +++ cases, a significant change was confirmed by the detector. It is concluded that the high‐frequency ultrasound method is of little use in confirming or quantifying of positive patch test

摘要:
A metabolite of Sudan I (l‐phenylazo‐2—naphthol) was isolated alter in vitro incubation with the supernatant of guinea pig liver homogenate (S·9). The metabolite was found to be 4′‐hydroxy‐l‐phenylazo‐2—naplithol by gas chromatography‐mass spectrormetry (GC‐MS), and proton and carbon‐13 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analyses. It elicited positive reactions in guinea pigs sensitized ot Sudan I. It was also shown to be allergenic. 摘要:
In unselected eczema patients subjected to routine patch testing, the number with positive to Kathon® CG 100 ppm increased from none in 1983 to 0.7% in January‐August 1985, and to 4.6% in September 1985 to March 1986. Repeated open application tests (ROAT) with creams containing 7–15 ppm of the isothiazolinones were positive in 12 of 24 patients tested. 2 of the ROAT‐positive cases had negative patch tests to 100 ppm Kathon CG. but I was positive with 200 ppm. Atopic dermatitis, chronic hand dermatitis and lower leg dermatitis were the most common disorders in the positive patients, The cause of the rapid increase of Kathon® CG allergy in Finland during the winter of 1985–1986 was the use of a popular moisturizing cream containing first 19 ppm, then 7 ppm of a mixture of 2 isothiazolinones (Euxy

摘要:
A case of contact sensitivity to the unsaponifiable substances in sesame oil is reported. An Ointment composed of 60% sesame oil was used for the treatment of a burn on the forearm. 10 days later. Contact dermatitis developed. The allergens were shown to be sesamolin and sesamolin, which are unsaponifiable substances in sesame oil.

To determine whether the prevalence of allergic reactions to certain preservatives warrants their inclusion in a routine series for patch testing, a tray of 14 preservatives was tested in 501 consecutive suspected contact dermatitis patients. More than l% positive reactions were found with DMDM hydantoin. Kathon CG® and alkyl trimethyl ammonium chloride only. The concentration of alkyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (0.1% aqua) was considered too high. Of 6 patients reacting to the formaldehyde releaser DMDM hydantoin. 4 were positive to formaldehyde. Kathon CG® may be an important allergen in the Netherlands, and it is worthwhile for dermatologists there to add it to the standard test series. A molecular analysis of cross‐reactions in costus‐sensitive patients reveals that the most active sesquiterpene lactones are the ones with the lesser number of oxygenated substiuents dose to the α‐methylene γ‐butyrolactone ring. The concentration homogeneity of Dieted sulphate 4.8%. pet, and potassium dichromate 0.5% pet. in patch test materials appeared to become less homogeneous if stored at room temperature compared storage al 4°C. after 2 months, The coefficient of variation of concentration for nickel sulphate alter storage at 4°C W;LS 3.0883%, and at room temperature 25.3098%. In a field study of Occupational Dermatoses in a prefabrication construction factory, 272 workers were interviewed, examined and patch tested to chromate, cobalt, nickel, rubber mixes, epoxy resin, melamine formaldehyde and conplasts. The prevalence occupational dermatitis was 14% (38/272); 57% (22/38) were irritant dermatitis from cement; 39.5% (15/38) were allergic contact dermatitis from cement (2 with concomitant rubber glove allergy); and 2.5% (1/38) were allergic to rubber chemicals in gloves. The overall prevalence of chromate sensitivity was 8.5% (23/272), with the highest rate from the concreting bays of the factory. The rate was unrelated to the duration of workers’engagement in construction work. 34.8% (8/23) had asymptomatic chromate allergy.
