摘要:
Until recently laser research has been the province of the physicist wherein lasers have been utilized extensively as sources of coherent, highly monochromatic energy. The thrust of this research has been to employ the organic solution laser output as an analytical signal from which information about a particular system may be extracted. Preliminary investigations in this laboratory showed that a great number of variables are active in the achievement of lasing from an organic solution. More significantly, concurrent work in this laboratory produced some anomalous results which were subsequently attributed to a cavity defect. This suggested that small energy losses at discrete wavelengths within the resonant cavity of an organic solution laser could result in quenching of broad band laser emission at those specific wavelengths. These considerations led to investigations in which atoms and mlecules were purposefully introduced into the resonant cavity of an organic solution laser.1A search of the literature revealed that investigators at The National Bureau of Standards had previously observed this phenomenon and had reported on the intra-cavity absorption of a pulsed rhodamine 6G laser emission by sodium vapor.2In a follow-up paper Keller and co-workers demonstrated the enhancement of absorption for Eu(NO3)3) when placed within the cavity of a rhodamine 6G laser. Concurrently absorption was observed from Ba and Sr in an air-acetylene flame within a dye laser cavity by, Thrash et al.4Hansch and co-workers5duplicated the intra-cavity absorption experiment with iodine vapor and compared the sensitivity of this result with measurements obtained from conventional absorption techniques. At about the same time Latz, Wyles, and Green1reported data which dennnstrated that the extent of intra-cavity absorption for nitrogen dioxide was linearly related to its concentration. Investigation into the use of a laminar flow burner with an air-acetylene flame within a dye laser cavity showed part per billion (ppb) detection limits for sodium as well as the detection of barium and mercury. The completion of these intracavity absorption studies in the visible region of the spectrum yielded the results which are reported here as well as quantitative intyacavity absorption data for Eu+3. In an independent study Konjevic also reported detection of sodium by intra-cavity absorption from an airnatural gas flame6.

摘要:
The assignment and shifts of the carbonyl stretching frequencies in the infrared spectra of the complexes of general formula [M(barb)2L2] (M = Ni, Cu, Zn; barb = 5,5-disubstituted-barbiturate, L = pyridine (py), β-picoline (β-pic), imidazol (imid))are discussed in relation to their known crystal structures.

摘要:
The vibrational analysis of allyl mercaptan has vener been published. There are two internal rotors, the SH group and the CH2SH group, in the allyl mercaptan molecule. As in the case of propylene (1), the molecule has only one plane of symmetry (Cspoint group) in its most symmetrical configuration (when the thiol group lies in the plane of the vinyl group). However, microwave studies have shown that it exhibits C1symmetry (2). The infrared and Raman spectra of allyl mercaptan have been investigated in this study. The assignment of its fundamental modes has been made based on C1symmetry of the molecule.

摘要:
It is well known that rotational isomers would appear as distinct species in the infrared spectrum only if there is a definite barrier to the freedom degree of internal rotation. In these conditions, it is possible to value the thermodynamic parameters related to the confornational equilibrium by means of the measure of the integrated absorption of infrared peaks deriving from the various conformers. α-Diazoketones are suitable compounds for this kind of investigations, since the possibility of conformational equilibria of type (I)

摘要:
The cis-trans equilibrium in amides has been object of many studies. The same ind of isomerism has been evidenced also around the urethanic bond. Often however only one of the two isomers is detectable within very large temperature limits.

摘要:
A new violet-degraded band system was recorded in the 6900–7500 Å region in the emission spectrum of a microwave excited electrodeless discharge tube containing isotopic CuCl. A vibrational analysis of the system shows that the emitter is the CuCl molecule and that its lower state is most likely the ground state of the molecule.

摘要:
The polarized normal incidence specular reflection spectra for both principal directions in the [010] face of the TCNQ single crystal have been obtained from 18kK to 37kK. A band of high metallic-like reflection is observed in this region with an unique anomalous structure in the high energy, two-particle, region of the band. The results are discussed in terms of the classical and semi-classical Drude-Lorentz theory.
