The relationship between spectral line narrowing and diffusion coefficients is extended from previous studies [Part IV of the series]; the interaction between the optically pumped region and surroundings are represented in terms of Bessel functions, and the role of hyperpolarization in the resulting density fluctuation is discussed.

摘要:
The absorption spectrum of atomic uranium has been observed in furnace1flash discharge2and flash photolysis2experiments. Furnace absorption requires high temperatures (ca. 2300°C), so that the lines are relatively wide and many levels are populated. More important, uranium liquid and vapor are extremely reactive, making furnace design and lifetime critical factors. For quantitative line intensity studies in a furnace, it is also difficult to determine the atomic uranium concentration. The flash discharge experiment in UF6, while producing uranium quite suitable for high resolution absorption spectroscopy, is not well suited for quantitative studies of line strengths.

摘要:
In a recent paper,1we discussed the vibrational spectrum of crystalline Cyclobutanone (CBN) with the main concern over the crystal form stable at 100K. From the dichroism of the infrared bands, the nature of the solid state splittings was ascertained and conclusions were drawn on the symmetry of the unit cell. In doing this, use was made of the crystal Raman spectrum of CBN, to infer the existence of the center of symmetry in the unit cell and to predict the selection rules of the C52hspace group.

摘要:
Effect due to uncertainty in the dissociation energy, which is a major source of error (Jarmain, J. Quant. Spectr. Radiat. Transfer, (1971), 11, 421–6) in the calculations of vibrational wave functions and derived quantities, has been investigated. It has been found that for the molecules, for which the highest observed vibrational level is wall below the dissociation limit, the effect is extremely small.
