摘要:
The Allison effect was explained as a time lag in the Faraday effect. During the early thirties, this effect was extensively used for chemical analysis, especially for traces. Heavy hydrogen was first reported in the literature by this method and many other significant applications were made.

摘要:
The semidione radical anions derived from a variety of alicyclic ketones and α-hydroxyketones have been extensively investigated via esr by Russell and co-workers.1Studies of the chemistry and spectra of the 1, 2-cyclobutanediones derived from the tricyclo[4. 4. 2. 01,6] dodecane-11-o1-12-one system2suggested that an examination of the esr spectra of the related semidiones would be of considerable interest. The recent reports on the esr spectra of cyclobutanes emidione1cand several substituted cyclo-butanes emidiones1bfurther prompt this communication.

摘要:
Electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra are observed from gamma-irradiated, poly-crystalline samples of 5,6-dihydrouracil, 5,6-dihydro-5-methyluracil, and 5,6-dihydro-6-methyluracll. The spectra indicate that the radiation-induced free radicals are formed by the loss of hydrogen atoms from the parent compounds. The crystal structure of the dihydropyrimidines is apparently such that there is a proton near the unpaired electron which can simultaneously flip with the flip of the unpaired electron resulting in the formation of satellite lines relative to the main spectral lines. Annealing the irradiated samples at 100°C produces a decrease in the radical content of all compounds except in dihydro-5-methyluracll where the radical content increases. These differences are discussed in terms of the close proximity of the radicals formed during irradiation of dihydro-5-methyluracil. The

摘要:
Luminescence of complex ions is a general phenomenon; the number of such complexes in various electronic configurations found to show emission is increasing rapidly. For some it has been possible to assign the emission as phosphorescence or as fluorescence, for others the proper assignment is as yet not clear.

摘要:
Recently, the spectral characteristics of liquid ammonia solutions containing potassium amide were reported.1position and intensity of the band associated with these solu- tions is temperature dependent, and it was suggested that the absorption arises from a charge-transfer-to-solvent (ctts) process. Since the amide ion is the strongest base (lyate ion) that can exist in liquid ammonia, its spectral characteristics are especially important in the study of acid-base equilibria involving very weak acids in that solvent; the point of equilibrium in such a system can be moved to a convenient position by the addition of NH2−(Equation 1). This technique has been

摘要:
The ion mobility and drift velocity of carbon tetrachloride have been measured at various ratios of E/Po, ranging from 1.0 to 9 volts/ (cm-Torr). The technique employed for these measurements utilizes a polonium alpha particle source which serves both as the source for ionization as well as the means for producing a reference pulse from a solid state silicon barrier detector. The thermal electrons which are produced are readily captured by carbon tetrachloride and the resulting negative ion, assumed to be CC14−, is detected by means of a proportional counter located at the end of the drift path. The zero field reduced mobility obtained for CC14−was 0.42 cm2/(volt-sec). The nature of the ionic species is explained in terms of the quantum mechanical theory of ionic mobility as put forth by Dalgarno.
