The association constants, Kaof KI, Nal and CaCl2complexing with 1,4,7,10,13-pentaoxacyclopentadecane and 1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaoxacycloocta-decane in DHO were determined by the aid of13C dipole-dipole relaxation time measurements.

The intensity of the rotational lines of the 43-0 band of the B-X system of Iodine has been measured using a high resolution spectrograph. The band was excited by a multimode argon-ion laser at 5145 A and the fluorescence spectrum shows fully developed rotational lines produced by collisions.

The liquid-state Raman spectrum was obtained for chloromethyl thiocyanate. The previously unobserved C-S-C bending band was observed at 188 cm−1. The Raman spectrum supports the conclusion that only the CSconformer is present.

A simple, accurate and specific proton magnetic resonance (PMR) procedure was developed for the assay of tiaprofenic acid and its tablets. The method involves comparing the integral of the nice doublet signal of tiaprofenic acid (positioned at 1.60 δ) to that of the sharp singlet signal (positioned at 2. 1 δ) of acetanilide which is used as internal standard. The method reported in this study gives accurate and reproducible results; 100. 16 ± 0. 23% for authentic tiaprofenic acid and 100.00 ± 1. 05% for tiaprofenic acid tablets (SurgamR). In addition, the PMR spectrum obtained helps in confirming the identify and purity of the drug.

A sensitive time-resolved Raman spectrometer for structural studies of short-lived species, up to the ns time range, is described. Raman spectra are memorized onto the target of the camera detection head of a modified CODERG UF 76 multichannel spectrometer. To process the spectral information each spectrum is digitized over 500 points and transferred to a PDP 11 minicomputer by a home-built line integrating video digitizer; this design allows very low intensity spectra to be recorded. We have used this apparatus to obtain resonance Raman spectra, excited by a 30 ns, 531 nm laser pulse, of short-lived pyrrolidinic photomerocyanines in toluene solutions. The assignment of certain Raman lines is proposed, providing details about the structure of transient species.

A new, simple and rapid quantitative proton magnetic resonance method has been developed for determination of Diethylstilbestrol and its tablets. Among other peaks the PMR spectrum of stilbestrol has a well defined triplet (0.73ppm) and quartet (near 7 ppm), which are chosen for quantitative measurements. The principle of the method involves comparing the integral of these signals to that of a sharp singlet of maleic acid (6.3 ppm) which is used as internal standard. The proposed procedure gives accurate and reproducible results when applied for the analysis of both authentic drug and its tablets. In addition, the PMR spectrum obtained helps in confirming the identity and purity of the drug.

We draw attention to a method of analyzing single bands with only P and R branches using the isotope effect on the rotational lines. The method is described in detail and applied to the analysis of the 0-0 band of the A O+- X O+transition of InBr. The band origin and rotational constants for both In79Br and In81Br are found to be in excellent agreement with values obtained by more conventional methods of analysis.

Normal coordinate treatments of NbW5O193-and MoW5O192-, two polyoxoanions related to the Lindqvist structure, were performed by assuming the transferability of the internal force field of the parent hexatungstate W6O192-. The valence force fields were discussed according to the nature of the M' atom (Nb (V) or Mo (VI)) considered as a perturbing element in the tungstic framework.
