The environmental and physiological effects of lead are not only dependent upon its concentration, but its chemical form. Elemental analysis for the total concentration of lead in a sample by atomic absorption provides only part of the information needed to help determine its toxicity. The importance of speciation, cannot be over-emphasized.

摘要:
Gaseous ethanol, acetaldehyde, 1-propanol, 2-propanol and acetone at pressures of 2 × 10−5to 5 × 10−4torr were irradiated with electrons of energies 0-1000 eV. The visible-region fluorescence of the excited fragments was then measured. Studies included pressure dependence, electron energy dependence, threshold energy measurements, and excitation curve measurements. The aim of the research was to ascertain if molecules of similar structure could be differentiated by their spectra.

摘要:
The characteristic absorption spectrum of glyoxal at 455C K was observed in a flow system during the mercury sensitized reaction between acetylene and oxygen. It is shown that acetylene excited to its triplet state combines with oxygen in the ground state to form glyoxal.

摘要:
A normal coordinate analysis was carried out for bis(1-phenylazo-2-naphthylaininato)nickel (II). Two simplified models were employed, (a) a 41-particle model (“whole molecule”), where the CH atoms were considered as point masses, and (b) a fragment of 32 atoms (“half molecule”) with the hydrogens included. The calculated vibrational frequencies are correlated with observed data. The potential energy distribution was used for approximate descriptions of the normal modes.
