摘要:
If an organic gas sample is placed in a second cavity in a laser system, any absorption affect is greatly exaggerated by a change in laser characteristics, particularly with respect to the lasing wavelength. Detection limits were orders of magnitude greater than those of conventional i.r. absorption spectroscopy.

摘要:
Much of thein vivoresearch that has been conducted on the health effects of pollutants such as SO2and NO2has been concerned with their effects upon lung defense systems, with particular reference to their effect on functional properties of the alveolar macrophage (AM). The lungs are constantly exposed to the external environment with its variable content of irritants and infectious agents. Agents deposited in or below the region of the respiratory bronchioles are phagocytized by the AM. The specific capacity of the AM to perform its task is subject to many factors. Gaseous air pollutants have been shown to affect the functional state of the cells(1).Phagocytosis is an energy dependent process and plasma membrane ATPase has been suggested to act as a mechanoenzyme making phagocytosis possible through the conversion of chemical energy in the form of ATPase to the mechanical energky required for attachement and ingestion(2). Since the bulk of the cellular ATPase activity is located in the plasma membrane of the AM(3)the enzyme is easily accessible to inhaled pollutants. Furthermome, the activity of ATPase and other membrane bound enzymes is well know to be dependent upon the fluidity of membrane lipids.

摘要:
The recent detection of such trace constituents as germane, the tetrahydride of germanium GeH4, in the atmosphere of Jupiter has generated considerable interest in both the chemistry and structure of the Jovian atmosphere. With this in mind, the detection of GeH4in the Jovian atmosphere is discussed, and computer simulated absorption profiles of the J-multiplets R(0)-R(10) under Jovian atmospheric conditions are shown.

摘要:
The thermal rearrangement of vinycyclopropane to cyclopentene is a well-known homogeneous unimolecular reaction.1For the parent hydrocarbon, the isomerization process can occur through initial cleavage of either of two equivalent cyclopropane ring bonds (1–2 or 1–3). Vinylcyclopropanes with substituents at C-2 do not possess equivalent ring bonds and, therefore, may in prinicple lead to C-4 (1–2 cleavage)and/or C-3 (1–3 cleavage) substituted cyclopentenes. The presence of one phenyl substituent on the three-membered ring exerts a powerful directing effect on the rearrangement: Gas-phase thermolysis of 2-phenylvinylcyclopropane2(1) at 220–270°C leads cleanly to one phenylcyclopentene isomer.3,4The structure of this thermolysis product haspreviously been assigned as 4-phenylcyclopentene (2) on the basis of a potassium permanganate oxidation to β-phenylglutaric acid rather than the α-isomer.34-Phenylcyclopentene (2) apparently has also been prepared in the palladium acetatecatalyzed reaction between cyclopentene and benzene, although no spectral data whatsoever were furnished in support of the propose structure 2,5nor have the two independently prepared products been correlated spectroscopically.

The microwave spectrum has been investigated for the molecule of Benzenesulphonyl chloride within the 8–18 Ghz frequency region. Several a and b type bands corresponding to the Cl35and Cl37Isotopes were observed and assigned.
