摘要:
The infrared spectra of HNCO and HNCS are quite complicated and the band assignments are still disputed. In this note we try to add some arguments based on the normal coordinate analysis in favour of the recently proposed assignments1,2. The analysis was performed by the standard GF method with the frequency assignment due to Ashby and Werner1for HNCO, and Durig and Wertz for HNCS2. The frequencies only were used in the iteration procedure and the results are given in the Table.

摘要:
If an observed infrared reflectance band corresponds to a harmonic vibrational mode, then it is feasible by means of well known dispersion relationships to calculate reflectance values Rcfor an ideal reflectance curve that agrees with the curve obtained from experimentally observed Rxvalues. The technique of comparing Rcwith Rxhas been denoted as “classical dispersion,” or CD analysis. In the obtaining of dispersion parameters, such as oscillator strength (Sj), damping constant (Yj), and resonant frequency (vj) through CD analysis of infrared reflectance data, a number of methods have been used.

摘要:
Compounds with high fluorinating capacity are obtained when rubidium and cesium chlorides are fluorinated in a stream of elemental fluorine. Best results are obtained when the, temperature is kept in the range of 140–170°C. These products were first assumed to be polyfluorides, MF3, of Rb and Cs1. It was later assumed by various researchers2that the products are really tetrafluorohalates of Rb and Cs, formulated as MC1F4. One of the authors was himself involved in the problem of trying to establish the structure of these products. It is, however, a very difficult problem since pure products giving constant analytical results were not obtained. During the fluorination process, which is an exothermic one, enough heat is evolved to melt the reaction medium and the temperature rises above that needed to decompose the products. It is therefore impossible to obtain reliable analytical data, the products being a mixture of regular fluorides, MF, and the active, fluorinating, ones. No final proof has therefore been found for the C1F−4structure.

The Compton collision of photons and electrons is another form of the Doppler effect. The actual experimental evidence on Compton effect for bound electrons is inconclusive as is the qualitative experimental evidence on inverse Compton recoil of photons from highly energetic electrons.

摘要:
The absorption spectra of Na3+complexes have been a subject of several recent investigations.1–7In the absorption spectra of solutions, the solvent effect makes it difficult to study the energy levels of the complexes. This difficulty can be overcome by studying the absorption spectra of single crystals or diffuse reflectance spectra of powders. Since the complexes under study do not form good single crystals, it was thought worthwhile to study their diffuse reflectance spectra, which have not been studied so far. The present communication reports a comparative study of bonding in six complexes inferred from their diffuse reflectance spectra.

摘要:
Observed-computed residuals of Earth-Venus radar time-delay measurements from 1961 to 1966 show variations that range to over 30,000% the expected error from the best possible general relativity fit the Lincoln Lab could generate. The variations are not random but are related to relative radial velocity and intervening plasma. These variations are evidence that the relative velocity of light in space is some form of c+v and notcas predicted by Einstein's general relativity theory.

In this note we wish to report our calculations of the spin density distribution in the several hydrocarbon radical anions using the “half-electron” SCF MO [variable beta] method of Dewar1,2. This method calculates the energy of a system in which the unpaired electron is replaced by two “half-electrons” of the opposite spin. In this way one has the pseudo closed-shell system at equilibrium geometry and the resulting energy [E] differs from that [Eo] given by Roothaan's3procedure only for ¼ Jmm
