摘要:
It has long been recognized1,2,3,4,5in measuring relative intensities and depolarization ratios of Raman lines that prism and grating spectrometers have different transmittances for light polarized parallel (T∥) and perpendicular (T⊥) to the slit. Several methods have been used to give equal instrument response to parallel and perpendicular polarization. Stitt and Yost3used a Nicol prism parallel to the high-transmittance direction of the spectrometer, combined with a rotatable mica half-wave plate to transmit either vector to the Nicol prism. This method has the advantage of having a higher spectrometer transmittance, but the mica plate gives exact half-wave retardation at only a single wavelength. A mica quarter-wave plate4,5averages the transmittances of the spectrometer for the two polarization directions, but is also wavelength dependent. Virtually achromatic circular polarizers have been designed and constructed6,7, but these devices are too bulky and expensive for the clear apertures needed for fast spectrometers.

摘要:
A very widely known and widely used[1]expression to calculate a nuclear magnetic shielding constant by combining the effect of diamagnetic and paramagnetic atomic currents on each atom was given by Pople.[2,3]In the present article, we will present a remark on a restriction to the applicablity of Pople's induced current theory.[2,3]To simplify the discussion, we will deal with a simple hydride MH, in which paramagnetic circulation can occur only in the atom M. The rectangular coordinates x, y and z are taken as Fig. 1.

摘要:
The literature contains few references to the reactions of phosphonate esters with iron salts. Guilbaultet al.1recently studied the infrared spectrs of diisopropyl methylphosphonate (DIMP) and dimethyl methylphosphonate (DIMP) chemisorbed on solid FeCl3and made infrared band assignments. We wish to report the results of a study of the products of the homogeneous reaction of DIMP, DMMP and diethyl ethylphosphonate (DEEP) with ferric chloride. On the basis of elemental analysis and infrared absorption data, the products isolated were identified as tris (methylmethylphosphonate) iron (III), tris (ethyl ethylphosphonate) iron (III), and tris (isopropyl methylphosphonate) iron (III).

摘要:
The iron phosphonates, tris (methyl methylphosphonate) iron (III) [Fe(MMP)3]; tris (ethylphosphonate) iron (III) [Fe(EEP)3]; and tris (isopropyl methylphosphonate) iron (III) [Fe(EEP)3]; have been obtained and studied previously by infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis.1The infrared obsorption spectra of the iron phosphonate compounds exhibited bands which could be assigned to functional groups of the phosphonate ligand; however, the role played by the iron atom in the molecule was unknown. In the present article, the results of Mössbauereffect spectroscopy are used to provide evidence for the interaction of the iron with the phosphonate esters.
