摘要:
In analytical plasma spectrometry the dropled size distribution, produced by a sample introduction system is essential in a few directions. Conclusions: about the nebulizer and spray chamber design parameters, may be drawn1,2as well as about phenomena related to the transport of droplets from the nebulizer to the plasma, and about phenomena related to the desolvation of droplets and volatilization and dissociation processes associated with residual solid particles in plasma. One of the methods for investigating droples size distribution is investigating the size distribution of desolvated particles3,4.

摘要:
Nitrogen laser induced two photon ionization spectrometric (TPIS) signals were detected with a simple dc current detector (picoammeter), of which the detection power is nearly the same as with a boxcar peak-gated detection technique. The advantages of this dc detection system are the simple operation and low cost of construction, i.e., no special instruments are necessary to obtain the TPIS signal. By monitoring TPIS and background (leakage) currents alternately, the present dc system is successfully applied to the detection of the oil-soluble vitamins at ppb to sub ppb levels.

Plasma excitation sources provide a possibility for body fluids analysis with minimum sample preparation. The main purpose of this preparation is to insure the normal operation of the pneumatic nebulizer of the sample introduction system. The concentrations of different elements are determined only after dilution of blood, serum or urine samples by ICP1–7and by DCP after serum deproteinization8.

The use of x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XFS) using hard x-rays (λ <2 A), or soft (S) x-rays (2 A<λ<10 A) for elemental analysis of thin films and coatings, where the film thickness (t) is about 103A or greater, is textbook information.(1)A cursory examination of the literature reveals no information of thin film characterization (elemental or molecular) in the ultrasoft (US) region (λ>10 A). This finding is particularly surprising since, as discussed below, one could expect USXFS to be able to characterize surface-thin films with t values below 103A.

An electrothermal atomizer is basically an atom vaport generator and an optical cell that should contain these vapors. With few exceptions1–6most electrothermal atomizers produce and confine the atom cloud as a single step in the very chamber. If these functions can be separated in time and space, and a higher temperature can be ensured in the cell, significant accuracy improvements should be obtained.
