摘要:
A visual symptom of ammonium toxicity on tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum, Mill.) is the development of shallow, brown, stem lesions. Lesion formation is alleviated by K fertilization. In this study, tomato cultivars and mutants differed in sensitivity to ammonium injury. Mutants,yellow‐green‐5 andneglecta‐1, accumulated high concentrations of K in their stems and were strongly resistant to ammonium toxicity from soil‐applied ammonium salts. Cultivars which were sensitive to ammonium injury accumulated much less K in their stems than did these mutant strains. Efficiency in K accumulation and the accompanying resistance to ammonium toxicity appeared to be heritable traits.

Apple (Malus domestica) seedlings were exposed to a 2x2x2 factorial arrangement of treatments; phosphate level, micronutrient (Mn, Cu, Zn, Mo and B) level and chelator to Fe ratio level, in solution cultures to assess the effects on growth, development of Fe chlorosis and overall nutrition. Phosphorous was applied at 20 (low) or 400 (high) uM levels, micronutrients at low or high levels and either a 1 to 1 or 10 to 1 ratio of chelator to Fe concentration. After a growth period of 34 days, those seedlings grown under conditions of high chelator to Fe ratio, independent of P or micronutrient level were normal. Under conditions of low chelator to Fe ratio, independent of P level, the high micronutrient level caused chlorosis.

The investigation of the effect of increasing copper (Cu) rates in the nutrient solution illustrated the relationship between the trace element contents of durum wheat and the production of biomass. Thus, the effects observed in the aerial parts over the concentration range investigated corresponded to the following Cu contents: deficiency (< 6 ppm), subdeficiency (6–10 ppm), critical level (10–15 ppm), luxury consumption (15–65 ppm), toxi‐city threshold (65–80 ppm), lethal rates (300–1000 ppm).

Symptoms of Mn toxicity in barley leaves (Hordeum vulgarecv Morex) grown in full concentration Hoagland and Arnon #2 nutrient solution, one‐fifth concentration nutrient solution, or 0.5 mM CaSO4solution plus 9.1, 91, or 910 GMM Mn were tip chlorosis, marginal necrosis, and isolated necrotic lesions. Leaf toxicity symptoms, which were related to leaf Mn content, were more severe in plants grown in solutions which contained a greater concentration of Mn or a lesser concentration of other nutrient ions. Microscopic examination of leaves with Mn toxicity symptoms revealed that necrotic lesions first appeared in the walls of cells directly adjacent to the sub‐stomatal cavity, and then enlarged with time to produce an area of localized tissue necrosis between the vascular bundle. The profile of Mn absorption by excised roots in response to increasing absorption solution Mn concentration resembled a saturable curve, suggesting that Mn transport is carrier‐mediated.’ Mn absorption by roots was markedly reduced when the absorption solution contained full or one‐fifth concentration nutrient solution.

Effects of varying solution pH (3.75, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5) and Aluminum (Al) concentrations (0, 12, 21, 44, 81 and 106 uM monomeric Al, at pH 4.5) on the germination and radicle growth of soybean (Glycine maxL.) cv. Fitzroy were studied on filter papers moistened with the treatment solutions. At 72 hours, germination was ≥ 85 percent at pH≥,4.5, but decreased to 73 percent at pH 4.0 and 53 percent at pH 3.75. Radicle length was not affected by pH in the range 4.0 to 5.5, but decreased significantly at pH 3.75 (Relative radicle length = 70 percent).

Urea at 868 kg N/ha was applied in the spring of 1982 and 1983 on a high density orchard (6944 trees/ha) of ‘Starkspur Golden Delicious’ apples. Nitrogen—induced changes in fruit N, P, Ca and B composition were less than variability between years. Two yield components, fruit set in 1982 and percent floral buds in 1984, were significantly increased by the N application. Leaf N was positively correlated with percent floral buds and with fruit yield in 1983. The percent of yellow fruit and the soluble solid levels were decreased by the N application. Even though high N fruits differed from low N fruits within a single season, absolute concentrations were of little value. Drastically different fruit element contents between years were not associated with substantial changes in fruit set, number of floral buds, color, soluble solids, or yield.
