摘要:
A giant tumor developed on the right chest wall of a 52‐year‐old housewife over a 20‐year period. It was accompanied by a spider‐like invasion of skin, and a lymph node was palpated in the right axilla. Wide excision of the lesion was carried out. The cross‐section of the tumor showed two different appearances. The tumor was histologically diagnosed as a syringadenocarcinoma papilliferum. The post‐operative course was uncomplicated and without evidence of

摘要:
We examined 4 cases of sclerosing epithelial hamartoma for the presence of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) by the unlabelled antibody peroxidase‐antiperoxidase method but could not detect CEA in these lesions. Because syringomas contain CEA, the detection of this antigen is a useful marker for differentiating sclerosing epithelial hamartomas from syringoma

摘要:
Eosinophils have been described in the infiltrates of granuloma annulare. but their frequency, distribution and extent are not well documented. We found eosinophils in 18/45 (40%) cases of granuloma annulare, without significant variation relating to histologic sub‐pattern. Eosinophils were seen in over half the cases of deep granuloma annulare and in over one‐third of the cases of superficial granuloma annulare. This study demonstrates the lack of specificity of eosinophils in differentiating superficial granuloma annulare from deep granuloma annulare, granuloma annulare from necrobiosis lipoidica, and granuloma annulare from occasional clinical simulants which histologically show eosinophils, such as arthropod bite reacti

摘要:
Three skin biopsies (proximal nailfold, extensor forearm and buttock) and serum samples were studied by direct and indirect immunofluorescence, immunodiffusion and radioimmunoassay techniques in 6 patients with dermatomyositis. A variety of seroligic and immunopathologic abnormalities was observed in the patients. Three of ft patients had antinuclear antibodies (ANA) of a speckled pattern mixed with a peculiar dot pattern. Epidermal intercellular deposits of immunoglobulins were seen in the nailfold biopsies of 2 patients; one of them also had IgG deposits in the cytoplasm of epidermal cells. Forearm and buttock biopsies were negative.

摘要:
Fifteen halo nevi were stained for the presence of S100 protein by an unlabelled antibody peroxidase‐antiperoxidase method. SUM) protein was clearly identifiable within nevus cell nests in the inflammatory infiltrate. The presence of this substance helped to identify nevus cells in dense inflammatory infiltrates and confirm the histologic diagnosis of halo nevu

摘要:
We have examined gross specimens of pilomatricomas, divided in half after surgical excision and have found a peculiar gross appearance that has enabled us to arrive at a correct diagnosis. The macroscopic structure of the tumor appears to conform to the scanning electron microscopic picture.

摘要:
In two cases of Merkel cell tumor, the study of intermediate filaments, using monoclonal antibodies (vimentin, cytokeratin, neurofilaments), confirmed the double differentiation (neuroendocrine and epithelial) of this tumor as previously observed in histological, electron microscopical and histochemical analyses. Labelling of the tumor cells was positive with monoclonal antibodies against neurofilament proteins and cytokeratin.

摘要:
Twenty‐one specimens ofVerruca vulgariswere used for an investigation to define what portion of the papillomatous structures seen in H&E stain will correspond to Che areas of positive staining for pupilloma virus antigen utilizing the peroxidase‐antiperoxidase immunostaining technique. Vacuolar spaces filled with thready material and large ovoid parakeratotic cells seen in H&E stain stained positively for papilloma virus antigen. In the granular layer, viral antigens stained heavily, the nuclei of cells showing koilocytosis. Both round and irregularly shaped kerathohyaline granules did not stain positively for viral antigen stain. Eight of the 21 specimens showed marked positivity for papilloma virus antigen. Three other cases were positive in only focal sites. Of the 8 immunostained‐positive selected cases used for ultrastructural studies, only 2 showed the viral particles. The study suggests that the PAP immunostaining is a more sensitive and yet less cumbersome method than electronmicroscopy for demonstration of papilloma

摘要:
Two patients having a localized plaque of alopecia on the scalp, and one with a systematized unilateral epithelial nevus exhibited a histologically distinctive form of follicular hamartoma. In the affected areas individual hair follicles were replaced, or were associated with solid strands and branching cords of undifferentiated basaloid cells, filled in between by fibrous stroma resembling either a miniature premalignant fibroepithelial tumor of Pinkus, a small trichoepithelioma, or a basal cell epithelioma. The relation between these 3 patients and cases reported as linear unilateral basal cell nevus with comedones and generalized hair follicle hamartoma associated withmyasthenia gravisis discussed.
