摘要:
A gedanken gadget is described, based on an idea of Greenberger, Horne, and Zeilinger, that provides a more powerful demonstration of quantum nonlocality than Bell’s analysis of the Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen experiment.

摘要:
This article proceeds from the premise that one of the major reasons for the perceived crisis in science education is the failure of our colleges and universities to provide the type of preparation that precollege teachers need to teach science effectively. The perspective taken is based on many years of teaching physics and physical science to prospective and practicing teachers at all grade levels. The inadequacy of the present system of preparing teachers is examined and an argument is presented for offering special physics courses for teachers. Experience at the University of Washington provides the basis for a discussion of the type of intellectual objectives and instructional methods that should characterize such courses.

摘要:
The Ehrenfest equations govern the time evolution of quantal expectation values, and they have a widely known generalization that governs the time evolution of quantal uncertainties. Unfortunately, these results are usually applied only to free particles. Here, these methods are reviewed and applied to the simple harmonic oscillator, revealing a simple and beautiful picture of wave‐packet motion with an obvious classical limit.

摘要:
The propagation velocity of light in a medium is the transport velocity of the energy. According to the theory of wave motion, this velocity is also the group velocity of light. But, by using quantum theory, it is proved that the group velocity is not the instantaneous velocity of a photon, but rather the statistical average velocity of photons in a medium.

摘要:
After a general discussion of the physical significance of holonomy group transformations, a relation between the transports of Fermi–Walker and Levi–Cività inspecialrelativity is pointed out. A well‐known example—the Thomas–Wigner angle—is rederived in a completely frame‐independent manner using Clifford algebra.
